DO NOT BUY THIS
I had been using Car-o-Power made by North American Herb and Spice for a long while, but it has been discontinued. So I decided to try this one. What a mistake!! First of all, I couldn't get it to come out of the bottle, like it was solid instead of liquid. When I finally pried the lid off using plyers, I still couldn't get it to come out. After leaving the bottle upside down for a day, I was able to coax it out. What a disaster. It was gloppy, slimy, and generally disgusting. The taste isn't bad, but the texture makes it SO unappealing that I will probably end up throwing it out. I can't even get it to mix into foods without elimating all of the blobs.

Decadently delicious…
So good. No added junk. Just a (mostly) guilt-free treat. Love it.

Too thick to pour.
If I hadn’t opened it, I would return. I’ve used carob for years. This was disappointing because it wasn’t a syrup. It was so thick it was impossible to pour.

Tastes Amazing!!!
Tastes Amazing!!! I was not expecting this Carob syrup to taste this good, it was a total shock! I mixed it with black sapote, maple syrup, and vanilla. Wow!! Tastes like a chocolate mousse.

Rich flavor; simple ingredients; but a sour/bitter aftertaste
I was not familiar with carob syrup before trying this product, but I was willing to give it a try, especially with a USDA organic label. The syrup came in a glass bottle, had simple ingredients (carob and water) and the expiration was for 12/2022. The bottle has a large open lid with no pourer, so I would be careful with trying to pour this out straight from the bottle to use as a topping. The texture was thickened but not thick. As for the taste...it was OK. I use date syrup normally on my oatmeal and this reminded me of that but with a flavor mixed with burnt brown sugar and maybe some smokiness. While I did think the taste was pleasant, it was strong and left a sour aftertaste that had a little bitterness. I don't think this would do well as a dessert. I think it does have some potential with savory dishes. Overall, it's not really something I would try again but others may enjoy the salty/sweet combination.Overall I would rate this product average.

Healthy Alternative to Table Sugar
I had never had carob syrup before, so this was a new experience for me. Based on the reviews, I expected it to taste like chocolate syrup, but to me it doesn't. To me, it tastes more like thickened high quality prune juice. I love the taste of prunes, so I'm fine with that. This carob syrup flavor is definitely sweet, and enhanced my coffee nicely. I added a little French vanilla creamer, and the total effect was delicious. I don't see myself using this for anything but my coffee, but it's a nice healthy way to decrease the amount of sugar I use in my coffee every day while adding fiber and antioxidants. I can also see that this would be a taste that would grow on someone, kind of like the taste of prunes did with me, so as I use more of this bottle I may become ready to add carob syrup to baked goods and other foods as well. In the meantime, though, I will gladly add some to my coffee each morning and enjoy it in that manner.
