Beautiful Switch Port!
G-Darius was the first Darius game to go full 3D and as such, it helped pave the way for other similar shooters to do the same. A sign of a great game is it's lasting appeal, and G-Darius remains incredibly fun all these years later! The Switch port of this game is amazing. It would be easy to write G-Darius HD off as a quick and dirty emulation job, but that would be a huge mistake. The fine folks at ININ Games have given much love to this HD port. The Silver Hawk models have been updated in hi-res 3D, and the rest of the game looks amazing in a higher resolution. Make no mistake, G-Darius always looked good, but now it feels fresh all over again. (Although, you have the option to play it in its retro appearance as well!)Beyond the graphical updates are an incredible bevy of options. Don't be fooled by the limited number of options on the title screen, the real options are accessible in-game by pressing the L or R shoulder buttons. In here, you can change difficulty, number of ships, number of capture balls, screen orientation/resolution, border images, save games, etc.Furthermore, you can also check your progress on a large list of achievements and even view enemy models, how they attack, and in which zones they can be found. All of this adds to the already high replay value!Lastly, G-Darius HD is compatible with the Switch pro-controller and feels fantastic. Precise and without any input delay.I cannot recommend this game enough. If you are a fan of this genre, a purchase is a no-brainer - especially at this price. G-Darius is worth every penny.

M2 does it again!
While I like shmups well enough, this port is FANTASTIC. Lots of quality options, as expected from M2. The game includes the fun branching paths and cooperative play Taito made famous with this series. Lotsa lotsa fun. Right up there with Crusin' Blast on surprisingly funtastic Switch arcade ports.

An awful frustrating mess that looks good
I can honestly say after a few hours with this game that I hate it with an absolute passion. A complete mess that is frustrating and nearly impossible even on the easiest difficulty. It’s graphics disguise all of this games flaws. On the surface if your looking at it, you probably think it’s gorgeous looking, and there is no denying it is- its problem are the dated game mechanics, no hit box on your ship, bullets can barely be seen half the time, the power up system is your only saving grace here and you will most likely die before getting to charge the beam it’s just all very frustrating in the end and just not very fun. The game revolves around you dying 2 million times before you beat the stage, it’s very unrewarding and you don’t ever feel like you’re learning anything or ever improving. When I tell you this game is impossible, I mean it, impossible! There is no learning boss patterns, there is no avoiding stuff and just scathing by like other shooters. It’s just one gigantic mess of poorly designed scenarios, boss fights and bullet patterns that will have you scratching your head as to how in the heck you can even get past it to begin with. I thought training mode would help and it’s the same thing, what exactly it trains you for is beyond me. You’d have to play this game and nothing but for probly 10 years straight to get good at it, ive played many challenging shooters with a steep learning curve. The difference is as hard as they are, there are logical patterns and routes to follow as well as good bomb/ charge systems. There is none of that here period. The stupid grapple system works very poorly and just doesn’t help with the millions of things on screen this game expects you to deal with. Save your money and sanity and trust me when I say skip this! It’s now leaving my switch and will sit on my shelf for eternity. Absolutely hated it

Fantastic shooter
Really fun one, probably the best Darius on Switch right now. Great replayability, with multiple paths and endings. Graphics are crisp and look nice, the grab system is really fun to use and discover what every enemy can do when fighting with you. There is some slowdown very occasionally, and there's no option to turn off infinite continues.

Great classic. Notch below Darius Gaiden though
Thank God for a physical copy. Love this and Darius Gaiden on Sega Saturn, which is the best Darius shooter. If they keep coming with physical versions of classic shooters, I'll get all of them. Timeless

Low effort port
I thought HD might have somewhat improved graphics or a new engine, but this is just an emulator with a higher detail ship. The textures were already pretty grungy and the HD mode doesn't really improve things. Not worth a play.
