Working great, with accurate Heating
I got a really nice price so I purchased this when my Cobalt Heater stopped working after a year. It seems for my long 20 gallon I need 150 watt even though the Marineland Chart shows 75 watt for 20 gallons would work. This came preset at 78. I plopped it in, let it sit for 20 minutes, then plugged it in. When I checked my manual thermostat, it read exactly 78 degrees after 6 hours or so. I turned it down 1 degree to 77 because it is winter currently and did not want it running more often. The water looks clearer and maybe that brown algae that started appearing will go away. Only kind of drawback is it is so big and can't touch gravel. It looks like something out of the Borg. And the long side because of weight I guess tends to dip the suction cup down a bit, and I can't keep it perfectly straight. But I was having trouble heating my tank so something this powerful was needed. The temperature on the heater is somewhat hard to read. I think it shows 76 when it should show 77 but that's why I have a backup thermostat in the tank.

Worked for 3 months
This may be the first time I submitted a negative review. The heater worked great for 3 months and stopped working, similar to what other reviews say. I just happened to notice my water temp was at 70 degrees and had to run to the store and grab a new heater. I bought a different brand this time.

Numbers start to fade after a couple years
I've been using this heater for a couple years now. Good news is that it hasn't exploded or electrocuted anything and seems to still be functioning as a water heater. Bad news is, the numbers on the dial have faded so I can't really see or read what the setting is at. I have to gauge the temperature by trial error by using a water thermometer.

Long Lasting
I love this product. Cool looking, great design, easy and reliable to use. I had one of their first 100w versions made back in the early 90's. It lasted me through countless different tank set ups and break downs. I used it in Salt water, and Freshwater alike. Unfortunately, after 20 plus years, it finally showed signs of ware, with condensation and dripping forming on the inside. Not to mention I was last using 100wts on a 60 gallon tank. So after saying all that, I can not recommend enough. One problem.... It is beefier, bigger, longer, wider, then my 100w and with my aqua scaping, it does stick out. But that is a small issue comparatively.

Good Value and it Works
I feel kind of bad going to Amazon for this- but I did not feel like driving 15-20 miles in traffic (to get to a big box pet store) and spending a lot of time driving to get there. I bought this heater for a 10 gallon quarantine tank because the backup heater I have shorted/broke. I was not in a hurry for this, but got it within a day anyways. The temperature is accurate and it is easy to dial in what temperature I need- in fahrenheit. My one complaint about almost all heaters like this is that I wish the clicks were more 'affirmative' at set distances- but this is something I can live with. I was able to quarantine the new fish correctly.Because of the hard water in my area I use a mix of 50% treated tap water and 50% reverse osmosis water using an RO system. I am fairly good at getting the temperature out of the faucet right, but sometimes I need to raise the temperature. This heater is able to stick (with the mount) to the inside of a homer bucket and heat the water that I am preparing. With some time and checking the water is simply poured into the tank. Not before I unplug the heater, of course.Happy with my unit.

Love this heater!
Using this in my 55 gallon tank. Set the temp on it for 70 degrees. When filling the tank I started out at roughly 64.4 degrees (measured by 2 digital thermometers, one on each side of the tank). Overnight the heater brought the temp up to 70.4 degrees and held it steady. Heater is set more to the right side of center in the tank. Granted a proper current in the tank is needed and probably why both sides of the tank are within 0.1 degrees of each other. Also remember that when having the lights on in the tank that will increase your water temp no matter the type of bulb being used. Having the light on in my tank for a couple of hours brought the temp up to 71.3 degrees. This heater is shaping up to being a great buy. My rule of thumb when purchasing and using equipment in a fish tank is that I always go higher than what size tank I have. In this case this heater can be used in a tank up to 70 gallons if I remember correctly. My current filter I use is rated for 90 gallons or more. And further my air pump is rated for a tank up to 150 gallons. My philosophy is that the equipment will not have to work as hard to maintain the tank which in turn will (in theory) help the equipment last longer in the long run.
