In the past 5 years I've owned 8 lights
As far as backup lights go, I've never seen one better. I've been lobster diving for over 5 years and have never spent so little and had a light that worked so well. If you thinking of getting the Dorcy don't. I own it and while it severed me well for 10 plus dives, a year later it is now shaky and unreliable. Dorcy is worth the 40 dollars but for an extra 20 bucks you will have a backup that performs better than any primary in its price range and most primary lights that cost double. As far as Primary lights go, Its brighter than my C4led, match's (if not brighter) than my buddies C8led. The only light better is my Cannon led Cannon eLED vs SL4 eLEDCannon cost $140 vs $60. It is brighter and has a pistol grip. I'm not a big fan of the grip on the SL4. This fact and this fact alone is what makes me prefer my Cannon. However you must keep in mind I do 15 plus dives a year, to me its worth the extra 80 bucks. If you are new to diving or do less that 10 dives a year this is the light for you. It has no toggle switch, just a simple on/off (I can't tell you how many new divers I take out turn off there light in the middle of the dive because of the easy access). Its durable, well built, extremely bright, inexpensive (not cheap). I can't say enough about this light. If your new to night diving buy it. If your out every week, buy it. It will soon become your favorite light in you collection and I will not be surprised if you end up buying multiple lights.

Total waste of money
This light stopped working before I even got it wet one time. What a waste of money! Also this is not the UV version of the light. According to the Underwater Kinetics website that is the SL4 eLED L1 - UV-395:"The popular SL4 eLED is now available with a UV-395 LED. Perfect for spotting glowing marine life with its narrow, intense beam." Bottom line: this is a regular, secondary divelight unless you specifically buy the UV-395 version.

Great LIght
Works great. I wasn't sure about the switch position, but after using it during a dive last week, it is perfect. Easy one had operation vs needing two hands to twist on and off. Very bright light. Worked well in all but the very brightest locations, but then again, I didn't really need a light there anyway. I have large hands, and this light is very comfortable to hold and use. Some of the smaller lights looked like they may be hard to hold onto. Although this light is plastic, it appears very tough and should hold up to anything. Not sure what some of the other reviewers were saying about changing the batteries being difficult. I was able to remove and replace all 4 batteries in less than a minute. I attached this to a Gear Keeper RT3-0012-A Locking Large retractor. It is the perfect combination. Attached to a lower D ring on BC, and light was always handy when needed, and retracted when not

This is a replacement for the same light I lost on a dive. I checked other lights, even brighter but they didn't have the battery life (without buying additional special lithiums and charger). The higher lumen power lights diminish in a short time at full power and you end up with nearly the same lumen output in the same dive. This light's output is consistent and works well throughout a full dive day on the 4 c-cells. The strap is good. The selected color is easy to see near the surface. Adding a little reflective tape, one can spot it well at deeper "colorless" depths though the body of the light is a dull grey (better than being completely black or dark blue). The light itself is good for a primary to look in holes and just enhancing what is immediately in front of the diver, as well as a back up in night situations. Terrific camping light, too. Many aluminum body lights investigated but remember, aluminum corrodes quickly if not well maintained. This heavy plastic construction works well and the heavy light/lens jacket for impact resiliency is a plus.

Bright and awesome, I bought this for diving
Bright and awesome, I bought this for diving, which it works well for. It's a quality flash light, and super bright underwater. Like many have said, it's meant to be a secondary light, but you could use it as a primary in some situations. I also like that it takes C batteries, which it lasts a while on. I'm not a fan of the rechargeable diving flash lights, Would rather throw some new batteries in real fast and be on my way.Had the opportunity to use this at a public pool at night with zero lights on in or around the pool. For whatever reason, the lights weren't coming on, but people were still swimming in the dark because it was fun. That was until I dove in and turned it on when I was at the bottom of the pool. It pierced threw the entire pool and lit up everything in its spotlight. Everyone in the pool was talking about it.

Average light
This is a decent light but I find it too bulky for periodic use. I suppose if one is constantly using the light during the dive it is fine, but before/after use seems like it just gets in the way

Good for Spearfishing
I bought this underwater flashlight as a gift for a family member that spear fishes in the Pacific. He told me it was bright and worked well, he was pleased with it. The on-off switch is easy to use. It is air-tight, he dives pretty deep ( free-diving not scuba) and has not had any issues. It is very compact. I think it a good size for someone with larger hands to grip. I am thinking of buying another as a gift for another family member.

Leaked on first dive, completely useless
Leaked on first use and now is useless. I am a commercial diver and have been using these lights for several years. The last 2 I purchased have both failed within the first couple dives. Quality has gone down hill, I do not recommend purchasing this product. Warranty procedure is very annoying and I doubt I will ever receive a refund.

Excellent
Awesome tool to discover a new way to dive at night. Consider the additional weight from carrying an additional flashlight.
