Solid but needs improvement for the price
Like other reviewers have stated, this is SOLID! If you're doing P90X, do yourself a favor and spend a few extra dollars and get out of that door frame. You'll be amazed at how much more work you can do on this thing. Once installed, it does not budge. Here are my pros & consThe good:- SOLID, solid, solid. Oh, did I say it's solid? No side to side swing and definitely no rocking front to back. I have it mounted on drywall in our partially finished room above the garage (So happy to be out of a door frame!).-The welds are tough, the bar is attached securely by bolts-Design is great for stability-Nice powder-coat finish-Bar is just the right thickness for grip-Ability to adjust bar height with different positions depending on your ceiling height. My gripes:-The bar is powder-coated and not knurled. If your hands get the least bit sweaty, goodbye grip! You MUST wear gloves. They should have knurled this bar for the price. I was doing wide grip pulls and my hands slid closer together each rep. I prefer not wearing gloves, but I must.-The included bolts are low quality (more on this below).-No template for mounting. Yes, they have instructions online, but for mounting over drywall they should include a template for pre-drilling holes. It is quite a hassle to measure and try to get it squared up on a ceiling.-This takes me back to the bolts. They do mention not to over torque, but if you pre-drill but end up even slightly off square, snap goes a bolt as it goes in angled.-This is a minor gripe, but the brand stickers were not on well and not square on the down bar and the bar plugs were not in tightly. Mine is even missing one. Not a big deal, but, like I say, for the price I expect the finished product to be finished well.Because of those few things I can't give it 5 stars, as much as I want to. If the bar were knurled, pretty close to perfect!

Sturdy product, bad quality control. Check it over before mounting.
I purchased and installed the small (8 foot ceiling) bar.Pros: the bar and mounting hardware are very sturdy. Plenty of head clearance when I do pull ups when I installed it in a basement ceiling height that is 7'8". Works well with TRX suspension trainer. This blows away a door mounted bar except it is slippery; need to rough up the paint.Cons: this bar's brackets has two mounting holes to mount at 10 inches or 14 inches. The hole on one bracket was ovaled/pushed in. So in effect I could not use that mounting position. I used the 14 inch location. The bar itself was slightly bent. I didn't notice until I mounted everything. Non of this occurred in shipping as the boxes were in perfect shape and the paint was not chipped or stratched. I emailed pictures to Mark at Studbar.com. His only recommendation was to unmount/rebox and send back to Amazon, since that is who I bought it from. I had thrown away the boxes the night before when I unpacked it. After spending a lot of time drilling and mounting, I was not about to undo everything only to wait another week and a half for a new bar. Also, Prime 2-day shipping apparently does not apply. It took 4 days to get to my address. For $140 I would expect better quality control and for Mark at Studbar to send new replacement bar. That way I could use the boxes for sending back and avoid downtime. He is the owner and should make it right no matter where it came from.Recommendations: Don't throw away anything. Check over the mounting brackets and their holes first thing. Roll the bar on something flat like a kitchen counter to make sure it is not bent. Leave both mounting brackets a little loose from the ceiling until you have the bar fitted and bolts started in the brackets. I probably had more trouble with this since my bar was not perfectly straight.

Great strong bar, bad weak bolts!
The bar and system is very strong and well made. It is certainly one of the best out there. The texture of the bar is just the right roughness for me. I am giving it only four stars because of the bolt sheering issue. Other people have had this problem too. It is very easy to snap the bolts that come with it. The instructions say to drill a 3/16 hole. I believe that is too small. I did use the 3/16 hole at 3 inch depth and an 18 volt drill with a socket driver. The bolts would only go in about 3/4 of the way in before the drill could not have the power to go farther. From there I used a hand socket to complete the setting. The problem is that one of the bolts snapped while I was using the hand socket even before the bolt even reached the stop. I don't mind having to use the hand socket to finish the bolts to the stop, but feel that the bolt should not have snapped, especially before it even reached the stop. If it had reached the stop and then snapped by me over torquing it of course that would be my fault. So anyway, I think there should either be stronger bolts provided or the instructed hole size should be bigger, perhaps 7/32's. I am now using the bar with seven bolts snugged tight and it works fine. Some day I will drill out the broken bolt and put a wider one in.
