Sadly on just DAY TWO of owning this ...
--------- January 16, 2017------------------This laptop was everything i wanted in a 15.6 inch screen form factor. The price, weight, and thickness were great. Sadly on just DAY TWO of owning this laptop the hinges screwed up on me when i was flipping back the screen in tablet mode. Even heard a cracking noise. I gave this 2 stars instead of just 1 because I would imagine most people are not having this problem, but I am in school and can't risk having another break on me again so I will be returning this item.---------January 17, 2017--------------------Ended up getting a replacement...simply because of the price and value of the laptop. I changed my review to 5 stars because no issues so far. If anything fails again I will update review.

I like it.
I'm a person who like to build computers. I love the fact that I can install, replace and/or upgrade any parts I want. That's why I went with this laptop.I didn't want a gaming laptop, I wanted something with good battery life and something small and thin that I can tinker with, something for basic internet browsing on the couch. This laptop is perfect for that, There's not much you can do with laptops and you are limited on what you can do when compared to a custom desktop, but this laptop come close to being an Ultrabook while giving you the ability to upgrade and repair. It's thin, has a good battery life and I can replace and/or upgrade rams, wifi card, SSD, battery, and I can even remove the cpu heat sink and re-apply thermal paste.I wanted an Ultrabook, but an Ultrabook, won't allow me to do all that, and the gaming laptop that does allow me to tinker with the internals are too big, heavy, clunky, loud, get too hot and have terrible battery life. The only thing I don't like about this laptop is the sound, fortunately I use audiophile dac and headphones, but I would still like to hear better sound from the speakers.

DELL CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE! LAPTOP SPEAKER IS DEFECTIVE UPON ARRIVAL AND THEY WON'T FIX IT.
First day and at first glance and inspection it seems like that laptop has something loose so I have to open up the bottom panel and check. Lo and behold the side speaker was loose and rattling making crackle/ static noise every time I play a video with the sound on.Overall build quality - normal/ so-soSpeed- fast especially with the ssdStyle/ look- very handsome, aluminum luxury feelTouch screen- it's okay, I'm not using it as a tablet so I'm okay with it. Don't expect much if you try to use it as a tabletFinally, I would say this laptop is worth a buy. Especially since it is cheap for all the hardware that comes with it.UPDATE:The loose part is an audio speaker on the right hand side. Dell customer service is terrible. I would never buy from Dell again and is contemplating returning this Laptop and buy a Macbook or other brand. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, they lead you on telling you they will pay for somebody to come out and replace the defective part which they acknowledge but then a day later they want you to pay for the service even though this computer is not ever 30 days old...

Nothing like one day opening your laptop and having screws fall out of it
So after less than 2 years of purchasing this laptop, one day I open the laptop and seeing screws just fall out of the machine. The lid of the screen is visibly falling apart from the pics. This is separate from the HINGE issue that a lot of other users are facing. I've never seen any sort of malfunction like this and Dell certainly won't fix it for free, claiming it is a 'wear and tear' issue.Absolutely ridiculous, Dell used to have great laptop products. Beware.

Impressive processor but AWFUL screen quality
From a processing and functionality standpoint, I absolutely love this computer, and for the first 10-12 months I had intended on purchasing another because I enjoyed it so much. But from a quality standpoint, the screen is absolutely a nightmare and has not even held up for a year and a half, so unfortunately purchasing another is no longer on my list of intentions.PROS: I purchased this product approximately 16 months ago. The processing speed is incredible - I really cannot say enough for the speed at which this computer operates. The computer boots up very quickly, and it just makes the work day so much easier. The added features such as facial recognition for log on is also fantastic. It's got a great picture/color/clarity, looks nice, and has great sound, etc. All the bells and whistles, plus the added durability of an SSD.CONS: The screen began separating a few weeks ago and continues to get rapidly worse. I use this as a laptop for business, and so it is delicately used. I have only flipped the screen over to use as a "pyramid/trifold" setup 3 times. Upon the third time, one of the pins holding the screen back and front together literally fell out on the table. The next time I simply opened the laptop, another fell out. I called customer service but the laptop is now out of warranty, so I would need to send it in for a fee and lose my work machine for several weeks (which, as a business owner, puts me in a tough situation), then they'll provide diagnosis and the bill for fix. I did some research online and found out this is a very common problem with this machine and many folks reported that the bill to fix it ended up being almost as much as a new laptop. Therefore, I chose to keep it fully completely open on my work desk and not use it as a mobile device... until today, as I absolutely needed it for a remote meeting. As I was closing it, the other side of the screen entirely separated and it seems a hinge is entirely broken, as it now is wobbly. I managed to get it opened again and back on the desk, where it will remain until it dies, as it seems there's no other choice (other than paying an unknown service charge for repair and losing my machine for several weeks).
