Walabot is the bomb!
This Walabot is the bomb! I have used so many different kinds of stud finders over the years with marginal success. My toolbox is full of them! With previous stud finders I would have to drill several small holes in the vicinity of an indication and finally find (sometimes not find) the stud. I figured That if the Walabot worked it would be well worth the money. I tested it at home on a piece of drywall and studs I put together in the garage. It worked great. I then tested it in my house (recently built) where I know where studs are. It worked perfectly. Now the real test. I went to hang a TV at my daughters house that is over a hundred years old and has been renovated numerous times so Lord knows where studs are. I calibrated my Walabot and immediately it started showing studs and wires. We marked them, drilled small holes at the marks and low and behold, we hit studs first try! Amazing! This Walabot is worth every penny!

Worth Waiting For!
I've been looking at the Walabot for a long time and was disappointed that it didn't work with Apple phones. Then, along came the Walabot DIY 2 and that changed. So I went to Amazon's site only to find it "currently unavailable". Another disappointment. But I went ahead and ordered it with a 2-3 month delivery window. Much to my (pleasant) surprise, it shipped in 4 days and was in my hands within 2 weeks. Happy, happy, happy. It works *exactly* as it shows in all the videos. So much more accurate for not just studs, but for electrical and plumbing lines in the wall. I used it to hang an 8' barn door rail that needed a lot of support for the weight of the door and the pre-drilled holes just didn't line up. I *had* to hit the studs dead center so I would get maximum support. Walabot DIY 2 gave me the accurate picture of where the studs actually were and I was able to place alternate mounting holes on the rail that hit the studs just right. If I could do chin-ups, I could use this rail for them. Couldn't have done it without my Walabot DIY 2.

I have no studs in my home apparently.
I ordered this in hopes that the ads I've been bombarded with are true, but this is an absolute waste of money. When mounting shelves I've accidentally hit power, that's a lesson you learn once and it sticks. I have several stud finders now that all work great for detecting studs but not so great at finding power that might be running alongside or in between. I hoped this would help. It does not. I went around my entire office 12' x 12' and it couldn't detect a single stud or tell me where known power and communications lines ran. There's nothing special about my home. I'm in Texas, it's drywall and 2x4 and some pink insulation on exterior walls. It has the best chance of success here. It failed miserably. This thing is going to scratch your walls too. It does not glide across a textured wall. Even if this was $25 it's not worth it. The cheapest stud finder at Lowes or Home Depot is better than this. Scan a wall wait 10 minutes go back to the same wall and scan again and you will get false positives in different spots. I could deal with some false positives if it consistently gave me stud locations. I hate to be so critical about a product but there's no way this has been QA'd in real homes. Possibly a mobile home with thin wood paneling but not a traditionally constructed home. This is absolutely NOT ready for market.

Walabot 2 DIY
When I first got my Walabot 2, I could not wait to try outThe visual stud finder feature to see just how good itwas at finding and displaying the studs through post50s wallboard as per accompanying Walabot 2 instructions. So I put up a 2‘ x 2‘ piece of wallboard in the garage whereto 2” x 4” studs crossed and extend it from behind thewallboard. I found setup, and calibration was very easy. After charging, I was ready to begin scanning the pieceof wallboard I had nailed up with the walabot 2.As I move the Walabot 2 over the area of the wallboardwhere the stud was located, the image appeared on mydisplay. The demarcation lines helped to locate the studcenter. I found it to be very accurate. The imaging studfinding feature is definitely a keeper. There’s another mode on the Walabot 2.Which displays a real-time thermal image of what’s inside the wall.Which is a very cool and handy feature, I have no personal use forit at this time. However I am happily secure in the knowledge thatwhen that time comes, I already have my Wallabot 2 and couldn’tbe more satisfied. A very useful device.

It works.
When I saw that the new DIY 2 had Wifi and didn't have to be physically plugged into my phone (like my DIY PLUS has to be), I was immediately excited to get it. Then, I saw the almost $200 price tag attached to it, (and it really caught me off guard because my DIY PLUS was only $35), but I finally talked myself into it, because as far as I was concerned, the only shortcoming the DIY PLUS had was its inability to go wireless. However, it turns out that the DIY 2 does about a third of what my DIY PLUS does. And had I actually read all the fine print, I probably would've known that before purchasing it.It will scan drywall... and that's it.But for the past few years, I've been using my DIY PLUS to scan through drywall, wood, lathe & plaster, and even concrete. And time and time again, those last two were more invaluable than the first, by far. And I got that kind of performance out of a device which cost me $35.And now I have a device which scans one of those things, at five times the price simply because it's wireless. All in all, I very much regret this purchase. But... it works.

Best Tool Ever
For years I did the old bang on the wall or tape measure trick and hope I find something to start with. Also try not to hit a wire or plumbing. This tool takes all that away. It made me money on the second job I used it on. Love how i call it a x-ray hand held tool for all people in the trades and homeowners.
