We had 220 volts in our house. I'm not positive but I do believe it does require it

Thank you for your question. If the power is disconnected, then the oven will not function in any way and the cooktop will only function if the burners are lit manually using a lighter. The electric igniters will not work in the event of a power outage. I hope this helps!
