Is this a 7200rpm drive??

Yes. All "Black" series drives have the 7200RPM spindle.

I purchased the 2TB version and No this is a standard sata. A little loud too.

What is the difference between wd4004fzwx (oem) and wd4003fzex (retail kit) wd 4tb hdd? i see 128mb cache and 64mb respectively.

The "fzwx" is just a newer version of the same HDD, OEM is just a HDD and most times shipped in a brown box, the retail will most likely come with the sata cable and is packaged in a WD Branded box. Do the mounting holes for this work for a Mac Pro, Early 2008 (3,1)?

The other answer is incorrect. According to Apple https://support.apple.com/kb/sp11?locale=en_US, "Four 3.5-inch cable-free, direct-attach hard drive bays with built-in independent 3Gb/s Serial ATA channels; four internal hard drive carriers included" so it should fit just fine. If you want to be sure beyond a doubt is to simply open your Mac Pro and see if the current hard drive(s) attached are 2.5" or 3.5" but back in 2008 2.5" drives weren't nearly as common. Good luck!
