Sorry, but this seems a normal puzzle. We searched through a website and A-1003 seems to be the one with metallic puzzle.

Are the puzzle pieces lettered on the back?

No, they are not lettered or numbered on the back. I couldn't complete the puzzle because of the extra pieces, especially the extra edge pieces. I can't recommend this puzzle, which is sad because I really love "The Kiss" painting. Hope this helps. Have a great day.
