Fran Wilson Cake Eyeliner Black (Model: FW5601)

After years of unsatisfactory experiences with liquid and crayon eyeliners, I went online looking for the cake eyeliner I remembered from my teen years and was pleased to find that Amazon has a vendor that carries it. I ordered it in both black and brown and am VERY satisfied with both. It is easy to control the intensity of the color by the amount of water you use and the product goes on smoothly. It lasts all day without smudging and looks great. The brush that comes with the eyeliner is small and somewhat difficult to use so I purchased a longer-handled brush, but that's just personal preference.

I used cake eyeliner many years ago and I liked it because it doesn't come off or smear during the day. What I don't like about it is it doesn't absorb the water to make a paste. it dries up almost instantly.

I think I'll have to throw this away. I saw the other reviews stating "grey film" looking application. That's exactly what you get. I assumed other buyers may not have much experience with cake eyeliner (it's pretty hard to find) so I took a gamble on this. I have other Fran Wilson products that are fine, but this one is garbage UNLESS you are looking for a gray cake eyeliner. It goes on black, and dries with a white film on it so that it looks gray, and the bigger problem is that it dries inconsistently so that it ends up blotchy.

Read reviews to get some insight about product.... it's clearly not Maybelline, lol of course it's not! So I tried mine and it goes on ok with shorty brush that comes with it, and even better with a natural hair brush I purchased with a longer handle, but the eyeliner takes a lot to get onto the brush and could go on better. I'm happy to have some type of cake eyeliner again for doing my eyes, but it's just ok. Can be tricky with all my skills it took a bit to apply, and I'd rather have it than not, but will not be used if I"m in a hurry as it can be tricky to work with. Wouldn't say not to buy it, but be advised it's a runner up to good old Maybelline. Anyone know if any of the other brands on Amazon are any better, as in thicker and darker? Fran Wilson eyeliner can be difficult to pick up on the brush and deposit on the lid, but does stay put as in waterproof, which is helpful for me, I cook in my own restaurant and the high temps and steam can be very challenging to one's makeup! Try it is my summation, you may find it just ok or it may be just what you need, I will be trying some others just to see if there's none better to be had, was happy to try this and not sorry I bought it, as the price is reasonable.

I love the eyeliner. Very easy to use. The applicator that came with it is too small, but I had one that I could use so that isn't a problem.

I'm over 55, so I need a liner that can provide a softer look without smudging or fading over the next 10 or so hours. I'm also allergic to many -- perhaps most -- eye makeup products. And, I want a cake eyeliner with consistent color... nothing that starts dark and fades quickly as the line extends. And finally, the cake eyeliner cannot have a crackled appearance (too dry) or smear due to oily eyelashes.That's a lot to ask for in one product. This eyeliner delivers it. I even like the brush, though some people may want a brush with a smaller point for greater control. I've kept using the one that came with this product, and I'm happy with it.I like this so well, I've ordered the same product in brown, for times when I want a subtler line or a wider one without looking too garish.This eyeliner goes on smoothly, stays looking great all day (even in Florida's hottest, most humid weather), and removes easily. (I'm not sure I'd go swimming in it. I doubt that it's actually waterproof.)Really, it's the perfect cake eyeliner in a nice, even black color that will go with all skin tones.

As someone who doesn't care much for liquid or pencil liner and who would use a wet angle brush and black shadow instead, this is perfect! I love the control and the little liner brush! I'm near sighted so the shortness of the brush was pretty important to me so that I can get as close to the mirror as possible to see what I'm doing (something I can't do with my angle brushes because of the long handles.) There was a little glitter to this which wasn't what I was expecting but I love glittery shadow so a little sparkle in my eyeliner is ok with me.Overall I found this stuff easy to apply, simply wet the brush, swirl it around and put it on. I always start at the middle of me eye and go out so that I get I nice paintbrush look to my eyeliner. The darker you want it, the more water you use and then you can set it with a little but of the dry powder on top so you don't have to worry about smudges from blinking.

I ordered the black color and for some reason when i use it the color turns white/ grey-ish. I believe its probably a really old product that was sent to me. Ive always ordered this product and this have never happened. I guess i should have ordered from the other buyers. Thanks alot for wasting my money and time. Im not happy at all. The only thing that went right is the shipping was fast. Which is why i gave one star.
