Very Accurate TDS Total Dissolved Solvents Meter
Received this Digital Aid Water Quality Test Meter in the mail yesterday. I am very happy with this product and the accuracy of it. I compared it to one my husband already has. My husband is in water treatment and we know the importance of having our water tested on a regular basis. We own a Reverse Osmosis drinking water system, and I like to check and see how clean our drinking water is. It also lets us know when it's time to change out the filters.A TDS Meter is for the total dissolved solids in the water. TDS is directly related to the purity of water and the quality of water purification systems. So, we are pretty aware of what kind of contaminants are in our water. We don't just drink any kind of water, we prefer to test it first to determine the purity of it.This is really easy to use, it has an on and off switch, and easy to read. I received the purple color, which is easy to locate when I have it in my kitchen drawer. It fits nicely even in your pocket if you do have to carry it around. It has a nice cover or case for it, which gives it very good protection.I am very pleased with this product, I did compare it to one my husband already has, and the readings from both of of our meters came out the same. So, I know it is very accurate, and I know it will serve our needs very well.I did receive this at a discount for an honest and unbiased review. But, this is totally my opinion of this product, and I hope my review will help determine whether you will make this purchase.

Ecellent accuracy in my home tests
I purchased this unit to test our water since we have a well and also use a Zero Water Filtration System. The Zero water has a tester that just gives a green light if all is good which simply is not much information. I used this Digital Aid Test Meter three days in a row and I let the water get to 76 degrees. Each time, I tested the well water first, then the filtered water, and left the tester in the water four minutes each. For the well water direct, my readings were 17,18, and 17. The filtered water was 4, 4 and 5. The differences are very minor and may be attributed to the temperature of the room during the tests. We also had the county test our well with simular results. Being the test did not vary enough to be significant, I feel this meter is very accurate and have much confidence in it. The meter comes in a heavy duty pouch to protect it which should help give it a long life. Its simple to use with just a power button, one for settings, and one to hold the results. I went on the Internet to the manufacturers new web site and printed information to check test results. Overall, very easy to use and seemingly very accurate. Its very solid and well made. I am very impressed with the unit.

The meter is very easy to use and the instructions are clearly written in ...
I am giving this product 5-stars. The meter is very easy to use and the instructions are clearly written in such a manner that you do not have to be technical to get it. I used this right way to test the water from my tap versus that from my filtered refrigerator. There was only about a 10 ppm difference and this was after installing a new filter. Using this meter enabled me to see for myself that my TDS level from well water is much lower than what the EPA considers unsafe. I have a well and was about to buy a reverse osmosis (RO) system. With the results I attained using this meter, I am no longer considering purchasing a RO system....caveat....unless my water that I am testing for coliform and nitrates (EPA recommended tests for well water systems) are positive. I should have those results in 7 days.Recommend users of this meter pay attention to the instructional part that suggest rinsing with distilled water after each use; especially if you are comparing two samples of water. Or, as a minimum if sampling two different sample of water, space the sampling out. Test one at night, and the other the next morning. I found too much variance when testing one right after the other if I did not do a good job with the distilled water rinse.

Not Accurate when compared with a $200+ meter
It's an inexpensive meter that won't calibrate.I have a $200+ bluelab meter that I compared it against. I used RO water that reads an EC of 0.0 with my bluelab. This meter reads an EC 24 us/cm and an associated ppm of 12. (ppm is just a math calculation from EC).The meter does have a calibration pot accessed thru the front cover. The calibration pot is not sensitive and appears to allow you to get close but but accurate. The setting from the factory was the best. Movement of the calibration pot CW or CCW just increased the error.I then compared city water. My bluelab read a PPM of 180. This meter was 158 so I adjusted the calibration pot to read 180. I then went back and compared it to my RO of 0 (zero). This meter still reads an EC of 24 and PPM of 12.I would recommend you calibrate this meter in a solution that is close to the EC/PPM you are interested in most -- but not zero! I have not tested the linearity for accuracy but is should be close around your calibration point but includes an error at true EC/PPM of 0 (zero) and most likely at some PPM higher than the calibration point. For me, I returned it as I'm growing hydroponic lettuce an require a meter that is accurate at low EC/PPM values -- which includes zero (0)

A simple to use device that can tell you a lot about your water.
I've used lots of different water quality meters in my life and this is definitely a simple and effective one to use.You simply collect your water sample in a clean glass and then submerge this meter up to the line where the cap attaches and read the data. I wish it held the data automatically but you can press hold and the data will stay on the meter until you write it down. You can also switch between degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius as well as TDS and Conductivity. They are nice enough to also include the scale to which you compare your water source with to make sure it falls within the usable range. I tested my tap water and tap water that was filtered through my refrigerator and I clearly saw lower TDS and Conductivity with the filtered water.A very handy device.
