Mighty Bright 84312 2-LED USB Light, Silver

I've bought half dozen different USB LED lights and have been disappointed with most of 'em. THIS model is excellent. I've bought a few and reordered from Amazon a couple more batches. The bendy part is very smooth so some people may have problems gripping it to adjust the angle; I thought the bend action was great, as it's easy to bend into all sorts of nifty positions. I even use a couple as handy hallway and bathroom night lights because they draw such an infinitesimal amount of power, yet they are bright as blazes and do not (so far) seem to degrade in output over time. Best NOT to grab the head to do adjustment, as the head can be forced to spin on its mount. That's not good, depending on the stress level of the wires inside the tubing, so don't do it. When plugged in, it does not light up until you press the contact button on top of the lamp head. It starts up full bright (2 LEDs) and if you press the button down again, then only the farthest up LED stays on. The PRECISION LENS aims the two LEDs so perfectly, you cannot tell that there are two distinct LED's underneath. All you see is very bright or bright. One down-aspect of this design is that the light continues to stay OFF when power is withdrawn and re-applied. So if you use it on your laptop/desktop computer, and you need to reboot the computer, the light will shut off on restart, and then stay OFF. Fortunately the ON button is easy to tap on to re-ignite the LEDs, then YET another tap is needed to go down to "bright" output level, since "very bright" may be just too bright, if other people are sitting around you. Lamp head measures 2" x 0.75" at widest point. It's 0.50" thick but the lenses and rubber switch cover bulge out about 1/32" above and below. The bendy tube is about 10" by itself. The USB plug body is 1.5" long, not including the male portion of the USB connector.Update, September 18, 2014 -- I have several of these lights running several hours a day. Out of 4 units, one has begun to fail electronically. Both LEDs have lost about 50% of their output. Since the failure is on each LED equally, I assume it's the electrical circuitry that powers the lamps. This speaks to a possible selection of low quality components within the lamp. I'll keep a close eye on the other units in the array, and we'll see if more lights fail. For an item of this relatively low cost, the maker is likely aware that few people will spend $11 in shipping to collect on the one-year warranty of their $10 product. I've had to reduce the product rating to 3 stars from five.

As I recently purchased a Notebook P.C. without a lighted keyboard I then desired a resolve to Typing in the dark. As always I searched Amazon.com and was not finding what I needed until I came upon this item. I read the reviews,(thank you to all who write reviews),and took a shot. So far I am happy and would recommend this product. PROS; Fits into USB slot nicely and light enough to NOT cause any stress onto same, Two brightness levels where with one LED it's enough light and with two it's NOT too much, Direct light to screen reflection is not too bad (LED-screen),3-way Toggle switch atop is a huge plus; ON 2-Led/1-Led/OFF, Neck flex is good and holds it's position well, overall build is good. CONS; The neck is 10.inches. I have played around with various positions so as not to have a compromising shadow from my hands as I type,but had no luck in overcoming this issue. If I could amend this product it would be to extend the neck another FOUR inches! I could then gain the needed angle so as to lessen any shadowing of the keys I hit.I extended it out over keyboard as far as possible only to have light head in front of screen.My USB ports are on the RIGHT side of Notebook. If I contacted the Manufctr. they would most likely state that this would exceed the allowable Extension to stress upon USB port limit. I do have a USB-3.0 port on the Left side,(so I could run another one and have no shadow), however I've heard that using that 3.0 with a light as this could damage same port. I'm not willing to gamble. SO,I would have given 5* if it were longer. If there exists a longer model from same M.B.maker then I missed it, and, will surely buy if I come upon one! Oh, and price is fair.

Very cool item and comes in handy with my laptop (And any other "USB" POWER source. Sadly, I wasn't thinking... I bought it for my Kindle and to replace an old chunky battery operated booklight. I'd love to upgrade my kindle to the one with the back light and Paperwhite, but I just can't keep up with these upgrades! Who does Jeff Bezos think I am? Bill Gates? Larry Ellison? How I'd LOVE to have so much money that I can buy the latest and greatest of every gadget and gizmo at the drop of a hat! So I bought this thinking "I'll just plug it into the Kindle where I normally plug in the USB cable!" D'oh!!!!! Oh yeah, the USB part goes to the computer/power adapter.... Hence, why I can only give it 3 stars.

Very good light. Very bright. I have the Mighty Bright Duet2 (which is excellent) so I wanted to try this USB light for the laptop. As good has the Duet2. Very good materials used. Love it.

Turned up, works, looks good. Just not as bright as I had expected.

Great light. The arm holds the light in place and the 2 LED's light up my 15" laptop keyboard. There is an option of using just 1 light and an on/off switch. I DJ from my laptop and it's perfect to light up the keyboard when I need it and switch off when I don't. Also perfect for using laptop at night in low light conditions without lighting the whole room.

I've had other USB lamps but this one is far and away the best I've found, it's a tight fit and the on/off switch is an obvious advantage
