Q: Could anyone tell me how deep these bowls are? I want 2" deep.

I am happy with the YHY 26oz pasta bowls, approximately 2" deep

Q: In your opinion, would a 16 oz Porterhouse steak fit at the bottom of this bowl so that someone cutting it while holding it on the lap wouldn't spill?

These are deceptively large and I think that depending on the shape of the steak it could fit. The sides are nice and sloped and the bowl is shallow enough that it would keep everything contained. I use these both as bowls and dinner plates.

Yes. These are beautiful restaurant quality bowls. They are very sturdy but elegant with a nice design pattern. They are easy to clean, nothing gets stuck in the groves (as another person asked), and they stack well in the dishwasher so its great if you have a large volume.
