What type of wood is this & if I re-order can I count on getting the same kind of wood?

I have ordered twice and the wood is the same color as my previous order. I am unsure of the species though. But it is a darker colored wood.

How long does it take for the driftwood to sink to the bottom of the fish tank?

they will fit into it well. but not if you are looking for a centerpeice. i use them as accents off my center peice of drifttwood. none of my float. I did boil them to reduce the tannins and make sure there was no contaminents that could effect my plants and fish later. the color is great. I have had them for over 6 months now and they look reddish brown. a bit darker when wet of course but I like them.
