I was hoping that this fan would prevent the playstation 3 from even generating a little heat, sadly that isn't the case. It helps though because it pushes the hot air out the back of the system at a high rate which I assume helps prevent any issues that may arise in the future. It also has a red status indicator light I think it would've been nicer if the light was blue because when ever I see a red light on the system I think of some type of error.It's a little on the noisy side I can hear it from 20 feet away with no problems. The last problem was that it doesn't fit snugly into the ps3 it is a little loose. I've read where another person said to push it in until you can hear a audible click. I tried and nothing happened. All of these problems are what prevents me from giving it a 5 star review.

My Ps3 has always run hotter than any other I have ever seen. I'm not sure if it's because it's backwards compatible or just an older model. I bought the MGS4 80 GB model.I have always had to play in my room with the AC turned on high just to be able to play for any amount of time. During the winter I have used it as a heater, it kept my room pretty warm but I could never play it for too long because I couldn't run the AC during the winter.I have read about this before and decided to get one because it got so bad playing Assassins Creed Black Flag that I couldn't play for more than 15 minutes. It worked great, my PS3 still glitches a little but I can play it much longer and it hasn't frozen up since I bought it. For some reason all the assassins creed games I play will glitch the same, they all have spikes that will make the character look like a porcupine. I haven't had that problem other than a few spikes but still playable.If it isn't sitting on the PS3 like it's supposed to you need to push it on tight. It has a clip that holds it to the vents on one side.

It was cheap and basically the only product available for the overheating fat PS3's. It's quiet (so far) but I doubt it will stay quiet based on other comments. I also doubt it is doing a whole lot right now even though I see the blades moving. I think my PS3 will need a lot more than this product to avoid overheating. But like I said, so far so good and I had no other options.Before I bought this, I read comments and laughed about people taping these things to their systems because it wouldn't fit correctly but I had to do the same thing. For me, the silver piece on the bottom/front of my PS3 is preventing it from fitting all the way. It's about 75% on there. Ugly writing on the front of it too.My big question is: Why didn't anyone ever create a better product for the overheating PS3's? I would pay a lot more than $9.99ish for a well-made cooling product that actually works effectively.

I ordered this and got it shipped right away. Item as described. It fits perfectly on my 1st GEN 60GB PS3 with the 4 USB ports and the Card Reader. Looks as if it's part of the PS3 system.Now while I can feel the fan blowing cool air out the front bottom where it is attached, my ps3 internal fan is still loud and there's lots of HOT air on the side and rear. Not sure how good this thing is working as my system is still loud. I ended up buying a separate stand-alone mini usb fan to blow more cooler air into the side of my ps3. Now I have all 3 fans going so it's really loud, but I don't mind as much as long as it extends the life of my system. I don't notice it too much either cause my surround sound is usually so loud it drowns out the fans sound anyways.Guess you decide if you want to buy it or not. It fits good and it can't hurt to have extra air blowing on your 60GB ps3. Plus it was under $10 !!!

I needed a fan for my PS3 to help with cooling. I bought this, attached it to my PS3, and turned it on. Tried to watch Netflix, and the PS3 fans still kicked on at full speed within 20 minutes.*EDIT*Turns out the fan wasn't helping because of a bigger problem inside my PS3. After taking apart my PS3 and replacing the heat sink thermal paste, the PS3 ran much cooler. I also ran a few tests, and without this external fan, the PS3's internal fans kicked on roughly an hour earlier. So, it works as described!The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because it leaves you with only one available USB port and because it's made out of fairly cheap plastic.
