Fast and Affordable
Hi. I've been building gaming PCs for almost 20 years. I'm an old, salty, experienced tech, and I'd like to tell you about the ASUS VG278Q. This is a great display for any GAMER looking for a large, fast, 1080p, 144hz display. As you can see from my review photos, I also own the ASUS VG245H, so my review can apply to both displays. I purchased the VG245H to be my PS4 Pro/PC display. It has worked great for both the PS4 Pro and my PC for almost a year now, without issue. After building a new gaming PC for myself, I decided to go with the VG245H's bigger brother. The difference between the two is the size of screen and most importantly, the refresh rate. The VG245H is a 24" display and features a 75hz refresh rate, while the VG278Q is a 27" display featuring a 144hz refresh rate. Both of these displays have a TN panel. If you are just a casual gamer and you like to do a lot of photo and video editing on the side, you might want to look at an IPS or VA panel. These TN panels don't have the greatest color or contrast, but they feature some of the fastest G2G response times available. So, if you're a gamer with a competitive nature, these are monitors that you should strongly consider. Try not to pay much too much attention to the reviews claiming that these displays are great for gaming but terrible for everything else. These displays can be tuned and calibrated for a great "all-around" computing experience; via the monitor's OSD, and your GPU's control panel. While they will never be as vivid as an IPS or VA panel, they can still be good for day to day computing. So take a little time to dial them in before giving in to the idea that these display are "washed out" with "poor color reproduction".Pro tip: Make sure that the RGB range is set to FULL and not LIMITED in your GPU's control panel. Both displays come with the same sturdy, ergonomic stand.Who should buy these? Anyone looking for a fast, reliable, and affordable display. Serious gamers who value speed over contrast and color accuracy. Who shouldn't buy these? Anyone looking for rich, saturated colors and life-like reproduction of movies and photos. So it all boils down to what is most important to you. If fast and furious is what you are going for, this is the monitor for you. If eye candy and features are more important, then you should look elsewhere...and be prepared to spend more.

Great monitor!
.I searched for good monitor for a while and gave up on 1440p for a good 144hz monitor worth good colours. Although it's a TN panel you just need to stare down the middle to get amazing colours, and the refresh rate worked with no problems. The stand is very solid and you can adjust it in so many directions. The monitor looks really nice and fits my all-black gaming setup perfectly. The g-sync is a great addition and helps a lot to get a smooth gaming experience. The package arrived as the original box and was a little beat up but the monitor was in perfect condition with no dead pixels or scratches and it came with a DVI, hdmi, DP and some audio cable(which was surprising to me) but i only needed the dp. To conclude, i recommend buying the monitor just because of the great features for such a cheap price.

Good for a second monitor.
Great second monitor. Still working 7+ years later. Would not recommend for gaming though. Best for watching YouTube or Twitch on the side.

Great clarity, wonderful visuals, I like it!
For me, the colours were great as were the visuals. Definitely worth the money if you want a monitor that is 144hz and has G-Sync or even FreeSync with it. I switched this out with my 32" LCD TV and the improvement is drastic from what I had before. I can run at full 1920x1080 resolution with no problems, nothing off screen and no problems and activating everything was simple. The screen itself came with no problems and even after restarting the computer after an update to my GeForce Experience I still had no problems with the screen. Zero missing pixels from what I can see both up close and from afar which is perfect. Perfect visual clarity in any game that I play and zero screen tearing or lag (this is all using the Displayport Cable that comes with the monitor). The colours were great right out of the box and work for me, I did not have to change a thing about them (experience may vary and each person is different so do adjust colours, hue and saturation as necessary to fit your eyes and your needs). The low blue light is a huge help to me as I must take care of my own eyes and the eye-care features that are built into the monitor are a huge help in that. Overall, don't be fooled by other monitors that are overpriced and you don't necessarily need that 240hz G-Sync monitor that is overpriced for hardcore gaming at all. This monitor is sufficient and should meet anyone's gaming visual needs. In saying that, this monitor can also give visual clarity on anything work related so you don't have to switch monitors at all in order to do that. The last thing I will say about this monitor, at the 27" size, it fits even more perfectly in the same spot that I had my TV at than my TV did, and after realising this and that I can still see very clearly what I was doing from where I sit, I realised that I did not need to make any major changes to my current set-up at all as this is a very nicely sized monitor.
