For a diamond painting, would I use the plastic over the painting itseld? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the 5D?

My diamond paintings are 12x16, that includes the white frame of the picture. I cut the wht. frame off, so yes, I needed the plastic to hold in the diamond picture, and no, it doesn't take away from the looks. Some of the nicest frames I bought no regrets.!! Didn't use the white tabs that came with the frames, don't even know "how to use them?"

Would a dry erase marker work well on the plastic overlay?

I don’t know about dry erase. But these frames are junk. Order 2 packs of 3. Got 1 useable frame out of 6. Pick a different brand.

How are they tabletop? I didn't receive anything that would allow it to stand

No pull outs for standing. Made for hanging--and quite nicely too.. Great frames
