If you mean raw meat to make into ground beef or sausage, yes but you have to partially freeze the meat until it is solid but not fully frozen. If you want to puree cooked meat it's fine but you have to make sure that you have enough liquid in the mixture.

Does this model have a locking blade? I like the idea of being able to pour the contents without the blade falling out.

So sorry, NO locking blade. But this unit is 100 times better than the unit we use to use. I really like it.Barry

I am on a very limited income. If I get the food processor can I pretty much do everything with it as a stand mixer?

Not really ... Dough that needs to be kneaded wouldn't work and whipping cream or egg whites wouldn't result the same. Grinding meat with an attachment on the stand mixer would be better texture. But minus the bread this food processor and an inexpensive hand mixer would cover almost everything.
