Is this an adjustable case with magnetic angles to keep tablet open without having to use the keyboard to lean up?

There are no magnetic angles, but there are ridges, so you don't need the keyboard to support the tablet at various angles.

When i connect the keyboard it says an app is required to use it. Any advice as nothing in the manual?

Samsung dex is on the tablet, start this and you should be able to attach a wireless keyboard. I have 2 they work fine.
