How wide is the gate? I want to know if my putter will fit between the two tees before buying it

The gate is 9cm or 3 and three quarter inches wide. I use a blade putter and it goes between the two tees easily. I am very pleased with mine. I find going straight back difficult, and it has helped me to sort this out. hope this helps.

Does this smaller size version still give you the ability to clearly see shoulder alignment?

Not so clearly. But you can rock gently forwards to check. The larger version is best for use with a home putting mat - I use one like that all the time. The advantage of the smaller one is that it is easy to transport to your local putting green. Truthfully, I have both. And my putting is at single handicap level now. Pity about the rest of my game - working to get it to the same standard!
