Q: Does the usb-c port support displayport alt mode to connect to a usb-c capable monitor?

No, the USB-C 3.2 Gen2 supports 10Gbps data transmission and the other USB-C supports power delivery 3.0 up to a 100W. The only video port that is available is the HDMI.

Q: Does g-sync work with this USB hub?

Unfortunately, I do not have an available monitor with G-sync capabilities to test the JCD403 device. I recommend contacting a j5create Technical Support agent regarding this question. It's possible they may have come across customer interested in G-sync capabilities with other j5create devices as well. Q: If i hook up a usb 3.0 hub that has its own power to a usb-a port on this device, do i need to still power this device? i'll use hdmi & ethernet also.

The USB4 8K Multi-Port Hub will need to be directly connected to a computer that supports an available Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4, or USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4 alt mode and Power Delivery features to power this device. The power-in port on this device will allow pass-through charge, as well as additional power to the USB ports when a power-brick is attached. One of the USB-C port supports power delivery 3.0 100W for pass-through charge and the other USB-C 3.2 Gen2 supports10Gbps data transmission.
