Yes. It steams but doesn't smoke. If a kettle is o.k. then this will be. Watch where you put it. It's hot and emits a lot of steam.

my cooker seems to be stuck on warm have plugged it out and left it for a while and still only got the warm light on whats the problem ??

Did you add water when you unplugged the chord.? Once you unplug it or turn it off you must add water to start the cooking cycle again. Otherwise it just reverts back to the warm cycle. If this does not work I would contact the seller. Good luck!
