Clairefontaine Pastelmat Pad - White 360g 18x24cm 12 sheets

I've been using pastelmat for all my drawings. It's the best paper for pastels. It holds many layers and is very easy to work with. However, on saying that, I'd say that white is the worst of them all. It doesn't seem to work as well, I don't buy it anymore, I'd rather work on the tinted sheets.

I really love using this paper as it is so forgiving if you make a mistake, You can easily reapply your pencil or pastel and build up your varying layers of colour. It gives you confidence to experiment. The downside is that it’s not cheap, only 12 sheets per pad, so I wouldn’t use it just for practice but once you start sketching on it You only want to use it.

Pastelmat is a great surface for soft and hard pastels. There was slight damage to the corners, and it isn’t the very best surface out there, but it’s great and I do recommend it.

Love using pastel mat my only problem it came bent and the paper is not flat now and it's not flattening other then that the paper is fantastic to use

This product is highly recommended by teachers for its capacity to take multiple layers of pastels or colour pencils but I found it not easy using it for the first time. The general recommendation is to persevere giving excellent results.

I love using Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper with my coloured pencils. It can give a lovely painterly effect using solvent and I don’t find it too difficult to get good edges.
