Croydex Slow Close Lavatory Seat
ProcedureRemove the Screws securing the Old Seat.Clean Lavatory Pan and surround with Anti-Bac Spray and a Clean Cloth. There are 2 Systems, Open and Enclosed, or TOP BOTTOM.If the system is an Enclosed System with No Access to the Nuts, Lift off or Push through the Old existing Bungs into the inside of the Lavatory Pans, and Press Fit the supplied New Rubber Bungs.(A Tip here is to apply a small amount of Washing Up Liquid to your Little Finger and wipe around the Holes before pressing down and fitting the Rubber Bungs, this will make fitting of the Bungs easier).Taking the Stainless Steel Hinge Plates lift off the Stainless Steel and Plastic Cover Plates at the upper and lower surface, Remove the Protection Tape from the Adhesive Pads.(Note that the SS Hinge Plates have Small Legs suspending the SSHP from contacting with the surface of the Lavatory Pan, so allowing the SSHP to slide around freely in adjustment).Fit the SSHP over the Holes in the Lavatory Pan, Fit the Through Bolts and Nuts on the Open System, the Closed System requires only the Bolt, do not tighten the Nuts.(Tightening the Nuts and or Bolts at this stage will collapse the Small Supporting Legs suspending the SSHP free from the surface of the Lavatory Pan so allowing the Adhesive Pad to stick onto the Lavatory Pan).Fit the Spacer Bridge to the Pegs on the SSHP.(The Spacer Bridge ensures that the dimension between the Pegs on the Lavatory Seat is the same as the Holes in the Lavatory Pan).Fit the New Lavatory Seat to the SSHP Pegs.(Smear a little Vaseline over the Pegs, you may need to slide and wiggle the Seat around forwards and backwards)Fold the Seat down, carefully and slowly, not forcing it, and position the Seat so that you can just feel the edges of the Buffers on the underside of the Seat, pull the Seat forward and sideways to adjust.Check that you have got the Seat positioned so that each side is equal feeling against the Lavatory Pan, Distance Forwards, Distance Sideways, feeling for the Buffer on the underside of the Seat. Then tighten the Bolts a little further, make a final check.Fully Tighten the Nuts and or Bolts and remove the Spacer BridgeThe Final Tightening of the Bolts will collapse the Small Supporting legs and allow the Adhesive Contact Pads on the SSHP to attach themselves to the LP.You don’t need to overtighten the Bolts and Nuts as the main grip is now the Adhesive Contact Pads. The Adhesive Contact Pads stop the Seat from sliding with wear. The speed that the Seat Closes can be adjusted by removing the End Caps from the Cylinder and rotating the Nuts left and right, at either end, Left side Nut adjusts the Seat Cover, Right side Nut adjusts the Seat. For further views and detail see Croydex Video, and also YouTube. We chose Light Teak, Composite Material, Warm, Lightweight, we bought one, fitted it, then bought another, a very good Lavatory Seat replacement with a good range of materials and colours, operates brilliantly, we worked slowly and patiently through the instructions and had no problems fitting, good buy at a fair price, and, its British.

Looks good, easy to fit, hopefully non slip
Installed easy, hopefully lasts longer than the last mdf style toilet seat. The last one blew out very quickly. The good thing the sticky pads look like they will stop the seat slipping which had occurred with the prior one bought from a main online uk bathroom retailer.

Pros and Cons
I made the dumb mistake of not measuring my toilet, only to find this seat was actually a lot longer than my bowl. More than half of the front sticks off the front edge but that was my mistake. The seat itself is absolutely great, especially adhesion! Solid work. Be absolutely certain you're putting it in the right place because once it's on, it's on for good. If you do take it off for whatever reason, the adhesion will instantly lose it's grip, like a sticker would. The slow close is a keeper, works perfectly.

Not Made of Wood and quite difficult to Install but comfortable and pretty
I bought this toilet seat because A) I believed it was wood B) I believed it would be easy to fit and clean. C) I believed I would be able to fix it in place from above and not have to scrabble around underneath the pan as previously to tighten the fixing nut. 1) Unfortunately it is not wood, but some kind of composite, plastic-like material apparently coated with an anti-bacterial. In the photos on Amazon the seat looks rather more like real wood. The seat I have received, although extremely (and surprisingly) heavy, and clearly of decent quality, is not solid wood and doesn’t really feel like real wood although it is attractive and comfortable to sit on. If you want a solid wooden toilet seat however, be warned. 2) Before installing I carefully watched the videos on YouTube posted by the manufacturer (which are not nearly complete or detailed enough) and carefully read the instruction leaflet. It was very difficult to position the seat correctly and even more difficult to apply pressure to the adhesive pads to ‘fix’ them in place. I never managed to do this and so had to wrangle with moving supports and a great deal of frustration. In the end, although the seat is straight and correctly placed over the pan, the fixing supports are not aligned at the rear (one further forward than the other) giving a somewhat ugly look at the back of the seat. I was disappointed by the lack of fundamental information and the amount of time, trouble and stress it took me to install the seat - well over an hour and I am usually quite skilled at general DIY 3) The option to fix the seat from above only applies to certain (rare) specific types of toilet pan and not the the more usual models, so I found myself back scrabbling on the floor with my hands under the pan (something I had hoped to avoid). The four supports under the seat that rest on the toilet rim are made of somewhat hard and inflexible plastic and would have been much better if made of a softer, rubber like material that would not slip. All in all, I was hoping for something a bit better for the price paid. I must say that given the current state of technological advance it is incredible that toilet seats remain an absolute nightmare to install. I have adapted my initial review because despite the above the family members in my household are all quite positive about the seat and in particular its soft close mechanism which is working very well. It,is,also, quite attractive and the quick release mechanism does make cleaning easy as the entire lid can be removed completely for cleaning.

Beware!
A very nice looking, sturdy toilet seat. Difficult to align to the basin & once stuck down a pain to relocate if you've not aligned it properly. Now the downside. The quick release system has failed so it randomly comes loose & will not lock properly. The slow close is failing now & it drops with a bang. Also the wood effect has lines running across it. I've only had it 2 months! I would not recommend to buy this seat & shall be replacing it as soon as I find a suitable replacement. Total waste of money!

Best loo seat
Excellent. Seems like a much more expensive item. Good quality, comfortable and seems well made. Best one I’ve bought in years.

Does the job!
Happy with the quality of the product. Easy to fit as long as you follow the instructions, and the ability to remove the seat for cleaning purposes is a bonus. The soft close works well, and once fitted it’s sturdy and doesn’t move.
