I bought this as a Christmas gift for a friend who recently purchased a new home with his wife and the knife was a hit! It’s durable, beautifully constructed, and very sharp out of the box. They tell me they use it every day while prepping for meals.

Knife has a 12 degree bevel, so it's as sharp as a razor. Slices effortlessly through veggies and meat. Fun to use, but also a bit scary because it's so SHARP.

What a great knife for the money.I was skeptical before I bought it because I didn’t trust the Damascus pattern was real. I was ready to ship it back the moment I…., well, I can’t tell if the pattern is real. LOL. If it’s laser etching, they must have done a fantastic job. The pattern is subtle, wavy, and, of course, beautiful! Unlike other made-in-China Damascus-y patterns - they must have just painted them. The pattern goes all the way to the spine, which usually is a telltale sign for the real thing.The blade comes with crazy sharpness. The spine tapers down as it gets closer to the edge and tip, which is the proper blade geometry. Wonderful polishing job!If I have to nitpick, the fitting between the wood handle and ferrule can use a bit more attention. I can’t vouch for its long-term use either since I just got it.This is now my preferred brand if it holds up.

I bought this knife because I wanted to try a better quality Santoku knife, and I liked the looks of this one. Out of the box I was shocked at how heavy it felt, and the blade was much thicker than I expected. If you're looking for a distal taper, forget it. This is a substantial knife. It looks good and it's sharp right out of the box, and I'm sure a lot of people will get use out of it. I was just hoping for a knife that was a bit lighter and thinner than this one.
