Hi, I am not an expert on diet shakes and it is some time since I ordered and consumed this product so I had to search Amazon for Diet Now shakes to find your information. This process, which you could do yourself, gave me a full product ingredient and description. I have used these shakes, and ones provided by a well known meal replacement diet regime, to aid in losing weight. The well known regime was very effective and I lost weight. These shakes from Amazon were a way of assessing an alternative product, with a view to continuing a cheaper alternative weight loss program. I found them of similar quality and would probably had the same effect, if used as meal substitutes over a longer period. I understand that these shakes now contain a balance of vitamins and minerals to maintain a limited period of complete meal replacement without any health problems but you should always consult your doctor or a professional before embarking or such a diet. My understanding of the mechanism of using these shakes is that they contain carbohydrates and proteins and these fuel your body, maintaining your metabolic rate and forcing it to source fat from your body's stores. Thus you need the carbs and the protein to run the engine and burn off the fat to lose the weight. The contents for the strawberry Diet Now shake, as read from the product description on Amazon, gave a product weight of 34.5g and a protein weight of 12.5g. Therefore, I conclude that 34.5g total minus 12.5g protein gives a carbohydrate weight of 22g per shake. As stated above, this fuels the body to allow you to burn off your fat. The Cambridge Diet, ( now renamed to One to One I think ), and other similar regimes will give a controlled and monitored environment if you are not sure how to manage such a program by your self. If you are not sure, consult a doctor. A quick look on Amazon for the Diet Now Meal Replacement products ie the Cottage Pie flavour one ans I soon found the calories in each sachet are 140 and one sachet should be treated as a snack, two for a meal replacement. To logically extrapolate these figures gives three meals a day times 2 sachets equals 3 x (2 x 140) = 840 calories. This plus another single sachet as a snack, (140 calls), or a Diet Now fruit bar with a similar calorific value gives you a total of 980 cals. This is enough to maintain a weight loss. As stated in the instructions with these products you should also drink a considerable quantity of water each day. The water further suppresses your hunger and is necessary to counter the fibre in the replacement meals. Always take medical advice before starting any serious diet or weight loss regime and only undertake such reduced calorie diets for a maximum of twelve weeks. This is the usual advice given for the previously called "Cambridge Diet". Very nice taste but I'm not sure about loosing weight

Very effective weight control.

I liked the flavor. It does need semi-skimmed milk (not water) to bring out the best flavor. Although an effective means to loose weight (2 x sachets and a salad daily) it is a bit pricy when compared with similar products.

Job to mix, very lumpy

Find it difficult to mix and quite lumpy even though shook it for a long time.A few more instructions would help, especially as have had shakes before but not with themetal object in with it, presumable to help smooth the shake, but didn't work for me. Disappointed.Would return if I could.
