Autofocus is greatly improved over older models. I photographed my daughter's dance recital and the human detection worked amazingly. I had less out of focus photos than the professional with a high-end full-frame. I like how customizable it is, too. The only improvement I'd make is to use the same tiltable screen as the GH6/GH7.

After a full one year review, this camera still continues more features photo and video than the new ones coming in. This is the only camera I use besides my DJI AIR 3s. I will buy another one still at this year 2025!Battery life is pretty well slightly below average but I do recommend more than 2 batteries to eliminate that problem.Using the 3 M4/3s Sigma Lens really gives you a 2.88 aperture to give you that blurry background equivalent to a 1.8 on a ASPC size sensor.Stabilization has been action camera equivalent! I never ever would be able to get steady footage while holding it with one hand in 30-40 mph winds. I am amazed with it all the time!The 9mm 1.7 lens partnered with the G9ii makes it super fun to take photos and vlog. I use it all the time!The menu might be the most confusing part. I believe looking for the “Timelapse” option took me 20 mins! Haha! Yes, 20 mins because how many features there are!Overall, the G9ii is literally the best camera out there for solo filmmakers who want all the specs for both video and photo. It haunts me that not a lot of people use this camera however, this cameras images are so “poppy” and beautiful! If you’re reading in 2025, go ahead and buy it. I'm using this with the 100-400 lens for bird and wildlife photography and it's a superb combo that produces excellent images. The autofocus is very fast and accurate and the auto-detect feature is a huge bonus that I wasn't even expecting.

I have been a Lumix user for years and this is my sixth camera. It is by far the very best. Once I got everything dialed in, this has been an amazing camera. The autofocus kicks butt.

It's actually probably the best Micro Four Thirds camera ever made, since it has all the features of the GH-7, but I am so sick of endless menus, and Panasonic is up there with Sony in it's terrible menu system.It got to the point of just wanting to manually adjust shutter and you have to dig through the menus.I've used probably every brand and they keep making them more and more complicated, which makes me want to just shoot film again.

Huge upgrade from my gh5. The autofocus is a game changer

I am new to photography as a personal. I wanted to start to document my life through a photo lens. I own the GH6, S5II, & S5IIX with a variety of lens’ that I use for content creation video work but I will say I really like the G9II over the other cameras for photography specifically. The G9II is light, PDAF has been solid, I bought a sling pouch to carry it and I just whip it out and snap pics I find interesting. Photos looks good, the stabilization is god tier, I for sure recommend the Leica lens for the sharpness! For sure recommend

I decided to ditch my Nikon full-frame Z camera and lenses and go with Micro 4/3, mostly because I'm getting older and tired of lugging around a big camera and lenses. After watching tons of video reviews, I decided on the Panasonic Lumix 9ii. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the images and especially the video. The lenses are also smaller and lighter, and I'm happy with the quality of all of them. Highly recommend.
