They stretch well. Not sure why it takes alot for a size though

Probably not. I would purchase the larger size. My son wears shoe size 4.5 - 5 and these socks fit just right.

My son is 8 and in a size 5.5y shoe. These fit him. They are nice socks! And honestly, I wear a size ten shoe in women’s and they fit me. So, yes, they will fit your son. 😊

Q: What size for a 3 year old with shoe size 7?

Medium might work, as long as they aren't too long for your son. The socks we received were very small and thin quality. They were very tight on my son's foot and he could barely pull them on.
