Real Moms...Real Jesus: Meet the Friend Who Understands

I stumbled across this book and it’s been super helpful as a reminder of all the distractions and exhaustion that Jesus had too and a reminder that we have a friend in Him.

I love that Jill really speaks to all moms as a whole, no matter what stage they are at. I started working on this devotional 1 week post- partem and it spoke to me right away. As a new mom there are so many struggles with the new demands on your time and the first thing Jill talks about are the demands on us just like Jesus. I love that she also mixes in scripture and even has you go through and read chapters of the bible to get more of an understanding of what Jesus went through. Most devotionals don't have you read scripture on your own and glean your own information from the word so I'm glad that Jill has included that. It's great to have someone's perspective on what Jesus went through but it's also important that we go through scripture and come to our own understandings of what Jesus went through. I couldn't be happier with this book and I am only 3 chapters in. Highly recommend this for any mom of any stage.

This book met me just where I needed! Jill does a great job at capturing the real life and frustrations of moms, whether you're stay at home or a full time working mom. We all deal with similar frustrations and struggles. She focuses on what is most important and how to make the adjustments in our hearts and lives to be the at peace mom that we all dream of being. She is also very realistic that we're not perfect and will make mistakes/sin. I think this is a great book whether you are a new Christian (or even just checking out the Christian faith) or if you have been a Christian for a long time. A definite thumbs up for this book!!

I purchased this just as part of a mom's group I was in... Then I started reading it away from the group and have loved it. It's easy to follow and it's good to know that there are other moms out there like me.

I cannot say enough good things about this book! I bought it thinking it would be a devotional, but it's even better. I am a working mom of 2 small children & this book has been such a blessing to me. I have gained so much perspective & have learned so much about my self & Jesus. I would recommend this book to any mother that needs someone to relate to! I get up looking forward to reading it!

Wonderful. Truly helps to give day to day perspective on how Moms can be more like Jesus.. many times with how to react to the everyday responsibilities and interruptions we encounter. Each chapter has a "lesson" that opened my eyes to how I can respond to my child or duties differently. This is one I will be rereading to continue to remind myself to be more like Jesus.

Used this book as the basis of a mom's small group and we all really enjoyed it. If you're thinking of doing the same, it's helpful to note that the chapters are a lot longer than the "perspective" sections, so plan accordingly. We found the content to be a perfect mix of spiritual guidance and application.

Very good book. Doing it in my Bible study group. Really like the discussion questions in the back. More basic concepts but is very applicable and really good reminders. Simple but poignant which in so many ways is just what is needed.
