Dimplex Danville DNV20BL Opti-Myst Electric Fire

So realistic , and well made , really classy, easy to assemble , and maintain

We bought this fire to replace our old one (same model), as the flame effect on the old one had stopped working. However, as soon as the new one arrived the old one behaved again!! - so now we have two, but the new one has coal effect rather than log so we can interchange them so they look slightly different - great fires though

This is a nice looking fire which adds a little smoke when on, by turning the water in the tank to steam. It therefore is quite realistic for an electric fire and was really easy to swap for the old fire. (Just make sure you measure the opening carefully). Although I'm happy with the fire overall, I would say it is a little expensive for what it is.

On the Dimplex site this is around £600+ but on Amazon I got it for around £499 but at that price I'm still going for 3 stars.Had I seen it in a showroom, rather than the video on the site, I probably wouldn't have bought it at all - maybe £250 might have tempted me.The big selling feature is the 'realistic' flame effect - best description from my wife and I was we were 'underwhelmed'Without the realistic flame effect you are paying £499 for a 2Kw hot air blower built into metal box.Just our opinion, our buying decision was helped along by lots of amazing reviews, so maybe it's just us, but I would recommend seeing it 'in the flesh' before you decide.Our purchase was from a great online dealer here on Amazon if you decide to go ahead - JC Electric.

We had an older, cheaper, electric fire. We’re glad we upgraded to this one. Flame effect is much better than the old style “wavy fabric” flames or plain orange light bulb.The thermostat is a useful addition, as is the remote. The fire has a nice crackle, just like a real fire.This also should be a much safer option for our 7 month old, who is crawling now and likes the look of the fire too.Very quick delivery from Jc electric

Once set up and working you really cannot tell the difference between this fire and the real thing. Hence the price I presume. Bought this for the show mostly but will also prove to be a good backup heat if needed. It requires filtered water which is no problem if you use a filter and it does require a bit of care. Not just plug & play. I think this should be made clear before people buy this. Having said that, once set in place you do only need to make sure the tank is cleaned and filled every two/three weeks as you would with a water filter dependant on water hardness. Take care of it and it will reward you with it's superb display. The closest you'll get to the real thing only with remote control. Dimplex also have a superb after sales service by the way and are there on hand to give advice when you register your guarantee.

This is my second optimyst fire. Have been able to utilise the brass front from my old one, just sits nicely in front of the black one so I have choice of two fronts. Tons easier to clean and top up than old one.Fabulous flame effect, wouldn't have any other fire now.Excellent service from supplier.If you can't have a real fire, get an optimyst.

As I've been away for some time I have not had time as yet to give an opinion.But the fire looks good.
