Can the TV be positioned portrait instead of landscape?

It appears the landscape /portrait issues should be made accurate and clear. If it doesn’t do any more than having to part disassemble it to use either portrait and landscape as and when you need it? Then it should be clear about the actions needed to make it perform as stated. (IMHO)

Is it possible to buy a second av component shelf to hold a sky box and a dvd player ?

I have owned this stand for a couple of years now and it is brilliant except for one thing. You cannot buy extra shelving. With the age of VHS, 8mm, DVD, TV boxes you would have thought that extra shelving could be bought but no. I get the feeling it is for office use not home use.

Is this compatible with a 500x300 vesa measurements?

The stand has max of 600 X 400 and comes with multi fittings for anything smaller. Can't see you having any problems with 500 X 300. Have you contacted seller?

How does the tv secure to the bracket?

Big bolts (supplied) through the bracket into the VESA securing holes in the BACK of the TV. I bought slightly longer bolts for 55 samsung tv.
