Why does the red striped type cost more than the other ones that appear to have the same features here?

Well, frankly it's because the Red one is more popular. EVH sets the prices on these and it seems they just are asking more for the red ones because they know more people want them.

is this guitar seriously worth the 900 bucks? it has 1 pick up and 1 knob opposed to the original kramer frankenstrat.

The Kramer Frankenstrat only had one pickup and one knob too. If it did have another pickup or knob they didn't work. It plays very nicely and sounds great so I personally think it's worth 900.

Do you set these guitars up prior to shipping?

I've purchased 4 striped series guitars. All we're setup. Some better than others. Red-white-black one had loose screws behind the lock-nut, but the action and fret dressing on all them has been superb.
