Great product at the price!
Works great! Was really surprised at how well this works. I use it on my forge and crucibles for testing temperature. Love the lighted display and the battery lasts a long time.

Instruction manual poorly written
Manual is so bad hard to figure out how to operate. Will have to return if any worse.

Excellent price-point performance
I wanted to measure surface temperature to augment my chefing activity. This techie model handles temps almost to 3,000°F and is overkill for my purposes. But it's the only one on Amazon that's rechargeable. From my technician experience with pyrometers at work, they eat batteries voraciously. It took some getting used to, and the instructions are poor and badly translated. But it's exceeding all my expectations for accuracy and convenience. It's no replacement for an instant internal thermometer but it allows me more options for measuring temperatures in conditions which internal thermometers can't cover, like the oven surfaces. Be aware that you can't measure anything shiny, like metal pots with such a device because they reflect laser glare which defeats the accuracy of the readings.

Open it up and plug in the battery.
I'm one of those guys who only reads the manual of I run into an issue. I plugged it in to charge it, and the screen turned on, so I figured everything was ok. When I unplugged it, nothing. Yep, gotta plug in the battery, which is a small li-ion pack that are usually used in non-servicable battery applications, not like an 18650 which seems like is what the cavity was made to hold. I tested it out, and seems to work. Didn't have a super hot surface to test, so I might update if I run into any issues.Good price, hoping it will last.

Surprisingly functional and accurate out of the box.
I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy. This pyrometer is pretty clearly made as inexpensively as possible, and I hope that isn't reflected in it's longevity. The value was good, the instructions are poor at best, however, it is still fairly easy to use (once you understand how to adjust the settings for your material) and the hotmail customer service address is... well, they're using a hotmail address, draw your own conclusions. The carry case is not well made, and offers no real protection. With the body of the pyrometer not having any obvious enforcement or protection, I would handle with care.Over-all, I would say if you want a dirt cheap pyrometer with a decent range (I have not tested the upper limits yet!) This might be the "hot" ticket. I will update this review in the future if this is a long lasting product.

I wish
While looking for something that I could use with my forge, I found this. By paper and markings, seemed exactly what I needed. Yeaaaa.. no. It said a cup of icewater was -58F no matter the reflectivity adjustment at 2, 6, 10 and 12 ft away. A wall in a room set to 68F ambient reads 117F at 6ft and 98F at 20ft away.Just no.If yours actually works, awesome. I am jealous. As a precision tool, the feel is extremely cheep and light. The included case barely fits the unit and offers no protection other than dust and wet. Touch functions did not work with any of my gloves that also functioned on my phone, battery access needed to be pried apart, even after screws were removed. While the tripod mount was awesome, the top heaviness and inconsistent registration of touch stressed the grommet to near failure and no manner of staying on point if you touch the thing.Oh. Forgot a moment about the greatest issue I have with the unit I received. One of the lasers is marking out a second beam. You can see in my 4th picture the wee dot above the 2 primary. At no point do the laser actually converge. Nor does the convergence that does happen fall into the stamped spec and documentation. As best as I can measure, my convergence minimum is closer to 27 and 5/16 inches.I am actually very upset that I got something that feels like a child's toy that is nothing more than a laser cat taunt and flashlight.
