Great, but mind the size, it's close fitting!
I bought this as a trial to replace G4 bulbs in some cabinet downlights, the commonplace surface mounting ones about 70mm diameter and 20mm high, sold by Screwfix, B&Q and TLC a while back. My major aim was to reduce the heat produced, as the whole display case has over a dozen lights, and at 20W a time for halogen, it gets toasty inside. The good news is it takes a moment to fit, and afterwards, with the warm white type, both the intensity and the colour were not noticabley different from the remaining halogen bulbs. Much cooler though, so I'll be refitting them all. A brilliant direct replacement. Now the cautions. First, it was an extremely tight fit, indeed, at first I could not quite get the rim inside to allow the cover to be fitted. However, the connections are a couple of pins with a black plastic spacer (like 0.1" headers) and that spacer could be carefully pushed a millimetre or two closer to the LED PCB. Success!Be warned though that another make of similar product (Aurora) looks much the same but is a few mm larger in diameter and could not be made to fit, so well done Sebson. One final thing is the light comes from a dozen phosphor spots each about 4mm across, rather than a single point-source filament, so the diamond glitter effect on cut glass is not as strong. I plan to get around that with a few RGB leds to keep the overall colour a warm white but create some chromatic effects.

Four stars
Extremely compact and a great 10W Halogen replacement. Bright crips white light.Unfortunately these were purchased as a replacement for two that failed with a week of each other after being used for approximately two years. Not exactly the 20,000 hrs of used suggested before failure... However I couldn’t see any better options so decide to purchase some more to replace the failed ones. Plus I still have three others that are fully functional and didn’t want to risk different light colour or intensity with an alternative. On the whole still satisfied with there light performance. Shame about the premature failure.

Great to replace a halogen bulb
I purchased one of these to try as the size was not fully specified in the advert, and it was a good job that I did, as it is unfortunately just too large a diameter to suit my light fitting. 2mm smaller diameter and I would have bought another 10 .The lamp is well built, and even though it does not exactly fit the lamp unit in my kitchen, the wires do connect and I have installed it in place of theoriginal 20 watt 12 volt halogen bulb, but had to leave the cover off. It gives a good light, much brighter than the bulb that it replaced, and uses a sixth of the power. Sadly to make full use of these bulbs, I will have to change the fittings, but over a period, I should get my money back so I have arranged to do that in the near future.Pros.Good product and works well.ConsA bit too large for my fittings.

great quality replacement for g4 bulb
I have a number of downlights with G4 halogen bulbs which are 12 v powered by small transformers have been looking for a quality replacement, have purchasd chinese imports for other bulbs which have not been durable.I purschased a sebson e27 30w bulb 3 years ago still working great. After reading some earlier review saying these will fit in standard downlight mounts decided to buy them. They will just about fit is a standard downlight fitting but as someone else suggested the reflector isnt needed as they are one directional so cut some of the reflector away with tip snips and they fit perfectly. The quality of light is good it is warm white and brighter than the g4 halogen they replaced I had a little flickering with one bulb which I take to be using a non led transformer but this has settled down.Otherwise happy 2.5W instead of 20W.I will be ordering more

Perfect for caravans.
My caravan has 7 flat round lamp holders which contain small cylindrical G4 halogen lamps. These get ridiculously hot when in use. Few of the holders are starting to show signs of heat damage, so I sort an LED alternative. These are perfect for the job as they are noticeably brighter than the originals, generate virtual no heat and use far less power, which is an important consideration if you plan to run off the van battery. They are a slightly tight fit in the holder but we're easy to fit and didn't impede the refitted of the lens at all.Well worth the effort I think.

I would say it fails to deliver on that but it's pretty close. It would certainly beat a 10w G4 ...
LEDs have been fighting to beat halogen bulbs for the last few years. One of the G4 halogen bulbs of my cooker died so I decided to give this LED a chance. The original bulb was a G4 12v 20w halogen. This LED claimed to be a 20w replacement. I would say it fails to deliver on that but it's pretty close. It would certainly beat a 10w G4 or a 15w G4 (if there was such a thing) but it falls a bit short on beating a 20w. It is quite common for LEDs to overstate their halogen replacement capabilities, although in this case it's quite close on delivering the sales promise. The light colour (Warm White) is quite good and shouldn't be an issue. The unit fit almost perfectly on the rounded whole of my cooker, so clearly Sebson have got their dimensions spot on. I didn't have to replace any transformers, the LED worked perfectly as straight replacement. Sebson claims a ~90% energy saving. Again this is an slight overstatement since 2.5w is 87.5% of 20w so it should be a 2w LED to give 90% of energy savings. Still there is a massive saving of energy so based on that, the perfect fit and the good colour matching I give it 4 stars!

Reliability concerns
I have used two of the last 4-pack and they worked fine. I have a total of 11 under cabinet lights in the kitchen split between 4 transformers/rectifiers. My concern is the overall life of each lamp. On average the lamps last for about 24 months before failure. This is identified by several of the individual LED’s on each disc failing completely or rapidly flashing on and off. The lights are on about 4-5 hours each day, less in the summer. Given that the rated life stated on the packaging is 25,000 hours, I would calculate they are failing after approximately 3,500 hrs. I am happy to return the next failure I encounter for analysis if required.
