Both cats approve!
Both of my cats are obsessed with this cat grass. They eat it every day. So with that being said, it doesn’t last very long, but the product is relatively affordable to refill so it’s fine. It’s really easy to plant and it grows quickly. My biggest tip would be don’t add that much water, less is more. Too much water it’ll get moldy. Dump the old water out of the bottom every day and replace it. A totally unnecessary product for owners who love to spoil their cats!

Nice planter for easy to manage cat grass
I have two spoiled cats who are always after food; I have them on a twice a day feeding regimen to keep them from becoming obese, and they are not pleased about that. I've tried several of the healthier treats and they tend to ignore them, staring at me as if I should be coming up with more options. I decided to try cat grass as an alternative to treats and they love it.While trying to find a good, reliable cat grass that would be easy to manage and pleasing to the felines, I discovered the SmartCat planter. The planter itself is sturdy and relatively attractive and the cat grass refills are easy to manage. The refills come with a plastic liner that sits in the planter; another plastic tray that's about the same size as the liner, but that is separated into four compartments; four pods of soil in which to plant the seeds; and four sections of different seeds. The application of the product is that you allow the soil pods to absorb water, wherein they puff up; you place about half of each soil pod in each compartment; you place the seeds; you place the remainder of the soil over top of the seeds; you place the plastic compartment cartridge in the liner; and, you place the liner in the planter. It's just that simple! The whole process takes about 10-15 minutes, including the pods absorbing the water, so it's not actually as difficult as my rambling may lead you to believe. After planting, it takes a few days for the grass to sprout. If I do not keep the grass in a safe place, one of my cats will start licking the dirt and will attempt to dig out the seeds. I take that as her endorsement. The grass lasts about two weeks for me before it starts to die off. I keep it watered during that time by lifting the grass compartment from the liner and putting just enough water in the liner to cover the bottom, then I replace the grass compartment. There are holes in the bottom of the compartment that allow the roots to grow, so it makes for easy maintenance. All in all, for a little bit of effort that goes into planting several seed compartments, my cats really seem to enjoy this product and I don't feel bad about giving it to them.

It worked for me!
Thought I'd give this herb garden kit a try, even though a few of the reviews were negative.I really thought that the wooden planter was nice in appearance.I liked the idea of the kit having 4 different types of herbs in the seed packet. Some of the reviews said that people had forgotten which herbs were planted where. To solve this problem I used a black permanent marker to show where each herb had been planted.Directions called for 3 oz. of water in each seed cup. Seemed like a lot of water, so after I planted the seeds, made sure to empty the excess water from the bottom plastic tray. Directions called for misting daily.I did not do this until soil felt dryer to the touch.Shoots began to poke through the soil about 2 days later and grew very quickly.Once the herbs began to grow, I started to mist daily. I watered very sparingly to keep mold from forming on the soil. Oats came up slightly brown in color but began to turn green as they grew. After 1 week the herb garden had grown to about 5 or 6 inches. I set the planter out for my 2 cats to enjoy, for about 2 hours each day. So far I haven't seen mold and the Kitties seem happy. Just try not to over water them.Glad I gave this kit a try. It's better than what I had used before. The wooden planter is very sturdy and well made.Hope you will give this kit a try also. Your cats are worth it!Good luck. ShiAdd on : Unfortunately after the plant had grown and been put out for the cats, about a week and a half later I noticed mold forming on the soil. There seems to be a very fine line between over watering and under watering. If you mist every day, which the herb grass seems to require, than it promotes mold. If you don't mist the grass gets whimpy and starts to die.I have 1 refill that I ordered at the time that I purchased the kit. I will plant that, but if I don't have better luck this time quite frankly I can't see myself ordering more refills at 5.61 each when the herb grass only last about a week and a half. I can save the planting trays and go to the local pet store and buy a pack of seeds and some potting soil for much less.
