Well, it is tied off at each end (or sealed), so we did cut one of the pieces, but you have to be careful to make sure you finish off the cut end when you're done,

no. I connected it to a line of trees behind it. It is very see through, so I have evergreen ivy planted at its base to climb up and make it more of a visual barrier.
