Q: Does it tell you how much you deposit each time?

Yes,it could ONLY read the coins and display the exact value of the coin you deposited. but it could NOT read bills,you need to input the bills value by typing it with the keypad,so that your balance will be updated accordingly. thanks

Did you tap the $5 button prior to each attempt? You have to press the appropriate button with each attempt to deposit money.
