Jed runs into an old classmate, Andy Safian (Bill Pullman), who is now a college dean. While Andy is helping belligerent law enforcement officials with the murder investigation and Jed is drinking straight shots at the local saloon, Tracy begins to have abdominal pains and is rushed to the emergency room. Treat for Aaron Sorkin fans
Never heard of this film but I love an early 90s thriller. At first your not really sure what’s happening, seems like there are things happening that aren’t connected but the revelations that come later on make it worth it. Amazed this isn’t as highly regarded as other films. It has some amazing speeches and dialogue. As you come away from it you start to realise the plot holes, but still entertaining whilst it was on

The God Complex and the Scammy Scamersons.
Malice is directed by Harold Becker and co-written by Aaron Sorkin and Scott Frank from a story by Jonas McCord. It stars Alec Baldwin, Nicole Kidman, Bill Pullman, Peter Gallagher, Bebe Neuwirth and Josef Sommer. Music is by Jerry Goldsmith and cinematography by Gordon Willis.Andy (Pullman) and Tracy Safian (Kidman) take in a respectable Dr. Jed Hill (Baldwin) as a lodger thinking he ticks all the ace lodger boxes. However, he turns out to be far from ace and after having to perform emergency surgery on Tracy, the Safian's world gets turned upside down...Malice is an old fashioned thriller, it has flaws and major implausibilities, but if taken on its own popcorn thriller terms it rounds out as a good night's entertainment. There's considerable thriller talent involved in the production, with Becker (Sea of Love), Frank (Dead Again), Sorkin (A Few Good Men), Kidman (Dead Calm) and Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October) all having been party to producing some quality genre offerings. It's loaded with betrayals and shifty shenanigans, and when the surprises come they are genuinely smart and worth the wait. But why the makes decided to tag in a pointless serial killer sub-plot is anyone's guess since it has no bearing on the otherwise well thought out story. Cast are on form, with Baldwin revelling in oily egomania and Pullman classical in gullible's travels mode. You will wish it had a more thundering climax, even if it is actually a touch clever, and credibility is often stretched to breaking point, but Malice operates out of the upper echelons of 1990s thrillers and still remains entertaining today. 7/10

A blast from the past.
Great thriller with some unexpected twists. Nicole Kidman and Alec Baldwin are brilliant in this movie. Electrifying quote from Alec Baldwin character: Jed:I have an M.D. from Harvard, I am board certified in cardio-thoracic medicine and trauma surgery, I have been awarded citations from seven different medical boards in New England, and I am never, ever sick at sea. So I ask you; when someone goes into that chapel and they fall on their knees and they pray to God that their wife doesn't miscarry or that their daughter doesn't bleed to death or that their mother doesn't suffer acute neural trama from postoperative shock, who do you think they're praying to? Now, go ahead and read your Bible, _Dennis_, and you go to your church, and, with any luck, you might win the annual raffle, but if you're looking for God, he was in operating room number two on November 17, and he doesn't like to be second guessed. You ask me if I have a God complex. Let me tell you something: I am God.

WHY SO NEGLECTED ?
Malice is dark complicated little thriller. It starts off with a psycho killer thyme but this is misleading the real evil-doer in this story is Tracy (Nicole Kidman) the wife of Andy (good performance from the underrated Bill Pullman) the main character here. The film has a touch of the Gothic to it - at one point one of the participants enters unseen at night - wind blowing, rain sluicing down - a large house on a cliff-top, - hearing occupants returning, hides, observes and listens as two people one a woman enter and engage in intimate conversation - leaves house, still raining - and drives away unnoticed! I love scenes like this so unrealistic but pure gorgeous cinema. Nicole Kidman is on top form here playing the deceitful, murdering femme fatale - I wish Nicole would play this type of character more often than she does - she has a darkness to her eyes that's ideal - sinister - brilliant. The rest of the cast are fine Alec Baldwin, Peter Gallagher, Tobin Bell, Ann Bancroft and a tiny early role for Gwyneth Paltrow - deserves a release on Blu-Ray.

An Old Aquaintence
A college Dean and his young wife meet a doctor who turns out to be an old friend after a college student is brutally raped. An underrated 90's thriller which has plenty of twists and turns even if some aren't quite believable the performances from Bill Pullman, Nicole Kidman and Alec Baldwin do keep things going and watch for a young Gwyneth Paltrow among the cast along with appearances from George C Scott and Anne Bancroft. An enjoyable twisty turny thriller that they used to make.
