It's a bradawl
Needed this item for doing a job at home only to find that we had one already and now have two! Small and funtional for the purpose it was bought for. Sure it will last a long time. Price point was good. Lots cheaper but tend to go for a known brand for tools in the hope they are better made, which this is.

Does the job
This is a good basic bradawl and is perfect for starting a guide hole for screws. The handle is a good size and due to the moulding of the high impact plastic it is easy to get a good grip on it. This is important as the point is relatively fine and very sharp. The only real downside is the way it is packaged - you definitely need a good heavy duty pair of scissors to get into the plastic outer.

My Potato and Vegetable Peeling Spike
I wanted a kitchen utensil that would stick in the end of my potatoes so I could have a handle to hold away from my very sharp peeler. Unable to find what I wanted, I thought, what about a carpenters Awl? It turns out this works perfect, and as a bonus pierces little holes into my jacket potatoes as well. Works on carrots etc. So simple and no accidently catching my hand with a sharp peeler.
