Sony DEJ017CK Walkman Portable CD Player - Player Only

I've been using this model for years. It's the only one with the features I need most. It will turn off after one track, and stay at that track when I come back, so I can "read" myself to sleep, then come back to the approximate spot in my audio book. It remember where I was in the book, even if I take the disk out and change batteries. The only downsides are that the readout screen is hard to see unless the light is just right, and I have to open the lid and remove the disk to change batteries, but that's not really much of a problem, given the positive features. This model was discontinued eons ago, but every time one dies, I go on Amazon to find another one in a reasonable price range. If they ever all disappear, I'll be devastated. I think I'd draw the line at paying $200+ for it, too, and that's what some people are asking. So far I've been able to get them for $30 to $45, so I'll keep doing that.

The device seems to work properly only in a completely horizontal position. If I put it in my pocket, it skips, especially in the first few tracks. The only way I can listen is to advance to a later track. I have had these before, and they never performed so poorly.

Yes, you are reading a review on a CD walkman in the year 2019. =) Can't help it. I'm a 90's kid and sometimes, I just want to listen to music without phone calls, text messages, emails, and app notifications. This is my fave. Good bass, good volume, lasts for a long time despite being used. Highly recommended!

I have had several of these players, the last one I ordered in July, 2018 and it broke a week ago. I was very disappointed because I use these all the time when I working in the house or in the yard. I am trying another brand (a more expensive one) in the hopes that it will give me good service.

CD Player works great, takes me back to the days when these were brand new. This purchase was better than the low quality units they are producing today. Would definitely buy again or any similar Sony unit.

Used when jogging. It holds the CD and isn’t changed with the jarring.
