Can this be used while strings are attached?

Seriously.. Do you want your strings to soak up lemon oil and sound flat??.. Don't use it with strings on.. Never. Always either loosen them or remove them.. Also this is a quite once in a year or two phenomena you don't have to do it with each string change. Allow a couple of minutes before rewinding the strings so that fretboard absorbs the oil and then wipe it with a clean cloth to remove any extra oil.. Hope it helps!!
