One centimeter on the flat part of the brush head, tapering inward towards the base.

Q: Would this be too big for a ferret?

My one Chihuahua was approx 3.5lbs when I first brought him home and it was fine, he's 5lb now and it's great for his small mouth. Not knowing how big a ferret's mouth it is hard to say for sure ... I use this and the mind up two finger glove as well, I've had good results with both and tried 7 different products before settling on these. Cheap imitation versions were just that ... Hands down the best for small dogs and even cats. It's abt 1/4 to 1/5 the size of a regular toothbrush.

Q: this is really made in japan? don;t tell me from japan but made in china.

What I can tell you is that the glove for brushing dogs teeth that I bought from them is for sure made in Japan. I believe that all of Mind Up products are manufactured in Japan.
