Just bought another as a backup. Turns out problem mentioned in previous comments was my USB cable...runs fine now.
Ok...it's now July 2015. I still love this thing. Finally figured out how to load videos too! Downloaded free converter from Wondershare and changed my MP4's to avi's and dragged right over to unit. Perfect. Have also used camera and video taker just fine. Problem I had below was my usb cable, no fault of the player. It fits in my shirt pocket and I bought Yurbuds earphones that never fall out of your ears and produce great sound. Bought one, but after some use and dropping a lot, I broke the earbud connection. I then bought the Eclipse that only played audio....didn't like that, because I could not see the list of songs, so bought another 2.8. Have had this for quite some time, but all of a sudden I can't get it to load on my computer...device driver missing or something. Pros: There is an alphabetical list of songs, but it has 4 playlist files you can build with the songs you want to hear. You can play songs from the main list in order or random. You can adjust sound levels for rock, pop, live, etc. I currently have 70 songs loaded...just drag and drop. Make sure you change the Name, File Name and Title on your computer so it loads with the name you want. Have about 50 pics loaded....just drag and drop. Haven't loaded any videos as yet...looking for right converter for .flv. Having built-in camera is cool. Haven't loaded any ebooks, basically because my eyesight is so bad I probably could not use anyway. It also has a voice recorder. Apps are stopwatch, calculator, calendar and notepad. Also has a touch button for Explorer, but have not used. THINGS I HAVE LEARNED. First, never shut off using the on switch at the top. Always use the button on the front. It is definitely susceptible to extreme cold. If you go out in deep winter, keep it inside your coat. If it does freeze up on you (old one did, but this one hasn't), wait a day and recharge. I thought my old one died when I dropped it and broke the doohickey where you insert earbuds. A month later, just for laughs, I plugged it into the charger and it ran!I did call customer service (you have to go through Trio for the Machspeed Eclipse products now). Gentleman was very pleasant, told me to try downloading the driver again. If that did not work, to call him back. Driver hasn't worked, but might be the USB cable I'm using. '

Battery life is a little uncertain. I bought three for christmas and none of them seemed to work correctly (even after charging a couple hours.) I gave up trying them and let them charge all night. Now they seem to be ok. Have not tried to use them very much with music and movies. If the batteries do not last I'm coming back for review update and less stars. Up to this point, 4-stars.

Exactly What I Needed
Exactly what I needed- we use ours for music/podcasts for road trips. It holds a TON of music and comes with a stylus that it doesn't actually need- a finger works just fine.Easy to use, holds a charge well, charges relatively fast- doesn't use a mini USB like so many others these days, but includes one (along with headphones, stylus, instructions, and a little cord so you could hang it from something if you'd like. The perfect size, great for athletes or just driving. I'd highly recommend to anyone needing an all-purpose media player, though probably not good for video/books as the text is rather small.I would purchase this item again.

The battery however doesn't last a long time like name brand MP3 players
I purchased this as a gift for my little brother, it was simple to use as far as uploading music and navigation on the device itself. The battery however doesn't last a long time like name brand MP3 players. As a first MP3 player this is a great choice (or even for a little kid). I would purchase this item again if the need for another cheap but decent quality MP3 arises.

Good for the price.
Great for the price, One thing is though the first time I used it, It got white lines in the screen. :( It's also hard to use. Other then that, I'm sold.

Wow
I bought this thing for a YouTube video and that YouTube video is like one of the most popular videos on my channel. So I think it deserves five stars. Oh so good if you don't need all the features that an actual iPod touch can do. So I think it is worth it for some people.

Nothing new
A waste of time waiting for this piece. Be aware that it charges with a mini USB cable, not a micro USB. Everything looked fine, the device has a camera, speaker, memory slot, money media for Playlist making. Just that straight out of the box didn't turn on. I charged it for about an hour and still didn't turn on. There's no replacement option, just refund. Probably because they know the next one will be the same. If you got time to waste printing labels this is your item
