Great for bunnies
I bought these to build a bunny cage like I saw on you tube. I was very surprised when they arrived how heavy they were in the boxes. The box they arrived in were very beat up. Naturally I was worried about the inside. I quickly opened the boxes and saw that the cubbies were in perfect condition. They are very sturdy and thanks to this my bunnies have a beautiful new home..

Be wary of the shelves you get.
This last set of these cube shelves I ordered were easily the worst I've gotten. It seems like they're trying to cut costs by decreasing the amount of coating they apply to the metal. This has the unfortunate side effect of making them not be a large enough diameter to stick in the connectors. I was forced to wrap all the corners with a couple loop of electrical tape so that the connectors fit snugly. Ironically, the connectors and shelves I ordered came from the same company.

using zip ties works so much better than the plastic things that these grids usually come ...
used these in my classroom to build a custom storage shelf. Worked out perfectly! using zip ties works so much better than the plastic things that these grids usually come with. I was glad to see I could just purchase the grids without those plastic attachments.

Bought this to make a guinea pig C+C cage
This is the most cost efficent method of making one large, or two medium, C+C cages for either guniea pigs or rabbits. These are originally meant as shelving options, which I assume would work just as well. These are made of metal covered in plastic. Since I used them to make a cage I will let everyone know that these are safe for your little pets to chew on. The outer edges are much thicker/stronger than the inner ones, so that's where you wanna ziptie your pieces together for either a cage or a shelf. The outer edges are also much harder to cut than the inner ones. I had to use a hand saw to cut pieces to size. The inner ones are able to be cut with a regular cheap wire cutter.Pros: sturdy, cost efficient, great for C+C cageCons: none that I can think of at the moment. doesn't come with connectors but that is stated very clearly

Will be back again!
These are really nice. I was able to make two 2x3 grids backless, one 2x2 backless, and one square, with plenty of spare grids. I got 50 grids, all uniform, clean, and black. There is a trick to putting them together though, you have to look at the connectors(sold separate but worth it); inside the grippy part are little lines that hold the grids in place. You have to go with the grain, so to speak. Pushing on the the wrong direction is nearly impossible. If you are having trouble stop and look in the grooves, changing directions makes it so much easier, until you need to connect 4 corners then it gets a little hard again. I will be back for more once I am done putting these in place. They do wobble, do not expect them to be solid like bookshelves. But for the purpose, sitting in the bottom of a closet for shoes or folded clothes, or in a baby room for toys or as a hamper, it works really well. My husband put a big bag(25 lbs or so) of cat food on one of the square structures and even though I could tell it was flexing, it held it for about an hour before I took it off. It was like it had never been there.EDIT Nov 30, 14: Back for another set! I originally bought these almost a year ago, Jan 5th or so. They are still going strong. I've got an organizer in my closet(shoes and weird stuff), in the baby closet(clothes that don't fit yet, supplies, and gear), next to the changing table(holds diapers and all the stuff, bath gear, and baby wearing stuff), in the office(holds all our board games, and we have lots), and next to the couch(treated like an end table, I put drinks/plates on it, store my work out straps, yarn projects, and I attached a power cord so I charge my phone and kindle and use my laptop). I still love them. They always look clean because they don't collect dust, you can use them for just about any thing (I've used them as a cookie cooling rack in a pinch, a grate to dye fabric on, as a stand to allow more air flow to electronics, and various other weird uses), and if one set up isn't working for you-just add what you need or take it apart and build new. I can put it together and move it around easily, even at almost 9 months pregnant, and when you don't need it, the grids store in around a 14x14 inch space. Can't do that with any furniture I know of.New tips that I have learned:just buy some zip ties if you want it more secure, and zip ties are another great thing that you can use for any thing. You can secure them to the wall using those little hooks you can get at hardware stores, or just a screw and a zip tie (important since I will have a small human and need things to not be pulled over) I've never had any of them tip or be unsteady though, even in a 1by5 tall setup.EDIT: my husband just pointed out that this will be my THIRD order of these. Apparently I love them a lot, and he doesn't care because they ate cheap, keep the house clean, and keep me happy. I definitely recommend these.
