I've only had this for a couple days, but it seems well built. This is top loading and has D-ring strap holders. So, I'd imagine either the carabiner that closes the duffel will fail first, or the stitching will break apart. The carabiner feels a bit flimsy and it goes too far into the grommets which makes it a bit annoying, so I took off a star for that.

I use this backpack as my grocery getter as I use public transportation. It carries a lot of groceries and it hasn't torn and no threads have come undone. Also, there is no silk liner that you don't need.

I needed to carry loads of 100+lbs of stone down a long steep hillside and was concerned that a shapeless bag with no frame or hip support would make the job dangerous or clumsy. When it arrived, it weighed little and I was concerned it might not be up for the job. Not at all - it is heavy-duty canvas and served excellently as a secure backpack for many loads.I had to tie off the straps at the double D rings so they did not work loose as I humped it down the path But even when they had worked loose, they did not fail, just became uncomfortably large.Later i used on-site, shovelling wet muddy gravel into the bag and hauling to a better place. I felt bad getting the bag so dirty, but it did not mind at all![EDIT] This was a very handsome bag when new, and I regretted getting dirt on it. Now it is stained by mud and portland cement; and scarred by sun and rain. It looks even better!! I wish the same were true of me.

Couldn't be better. I tend to have a taste for things that don't exist. Sometimes it turns out that I'm wrong, though. Like this piece. It does exist! Been looking on and off for years for something like this. Maybe I was searching on the wrong terms the whole time. But I don't think so.Nice heavy canvas, seems really well made. Straps are sturdy, wide, and nicely padded. I went with the Upgrade Khaki Big one. Great size. Upgrade khaki small would probably be about the size of the average backpack, not what i was after. This holds a great amount of stuff but isn't huge, either. The large outside zippered pocket is really useful.Only negatives (which is too strong a word here), and this is really nit-picky: the inside pocket flap thingie would be better sewn in sideways. so what you have in there isn't all upside-down when you flip the pocket out, and the small outside pocket is REALLY small. And flat. All that would realistically go in there was a pack of Trident, a bus pass, a few bills and some change, and a key ring with two house keys on it. But these details aren't even close to deal-breakers.

This is the mom writing this review. I bought each of my sons one of these bags and they really like them. The bags have nicely-thought-out details, like an internal clasp for keys and useful internal and outer pockets with zipper enclosures. Straps are reinforced where sewn on. I like that the main compartment does not feature a zipper enclosure, as I think the grommet-metal-loop enclosure will hold up better. (I wish, though, that they had sent instructions for this feature, as it is not intuitive and we'd never had a bag with this feature before.) We have only used these on one trip so far, so they've not been thoroughly tested, but so far we are pleased.

I purchased this bag to meet my daughter in Dublin. We traveled around a lot and didnt always stay in the same air b&b for more than a night or 2 so I wanted something durable to pack up all of my things and be able to carry around easily. It qualified as a carry on so I didnt waste time checking any baggage. You can also carry it as a duffel bag or a backpack which made getting through the airlines easier. I got the larger of the 2 sizes.

I still need to buy the bigger size

I like the simple latch to keep it closed. I always have problems with the zippers. Also liked the one single pocket. Less chances of zippers breaking and stuff falling out. Could also water proof if you put your items in a big plastic bag very good bag. Durable and simple

The zippers are all falling apart, and one of the shoulder straps are unusable, but that is after two years of use. The canvas is holding up very solid but every zipper has failed.

I really like the bag. Surprisingly large and fits everything. Durable and easy to carry.
