I have a hard time taking buds out of the case because magnets in the case are so strong. is this normal with the sony xm4 case?

Yes this is very normal. The magnet are strong so the earbud stay secured in the case while charging and won't knock around during travel.

I can't switch between the right and left ear bud. Any way to change that?
