Big upgrade over regular litter boxes.
We have a few cats and cleaning litter boxes is the one chore I hate the most. I've tried the rolling boxes previously which all broke and didn't do a great job getting all the litter out. I ordered one and it was really easy to use and clean while cutting down the work and mess. After that I replaced all our litter boxes with this one. Plastic and locks don't seem incredibly sturdy but we'll see how they hold up.

WORKS GREAT & GREAT PRICE
Got the smaller version of this (non-sifting) and, although I don't have a large cat, the smaller version was too small for her...THIS is the perfect size PLUS the sifting...WOW, been struggling for a few years shoveling "stuff" into bags... with this, it's SO simple and with less litter and smell. The TRICK is NOT TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS.Put the EMPTY tray on the bottom... the SIFTER next... and the pan WITH THE LITTER on top of them...To clean pour the LITTER TRAY into the Sifter/Empty... Pick up the Sifter and bag the "stuff"... Put empty Sifter on top of the Empty tray and put the Litter Tray on the top... ready for the next load.Your cat will like NOT having the Sifter and rather the smoothness of the pan...

Great as a regular box, the sifting part wasn't as practical as hoped.
So the box itself is great. Although the latches are a bit of a pain, so I never latch it. It's a good size box. Fairly sturdy. Holding up well. My main issue is the sifting part of the box. It seemed like a great idea in theory. I've had the box a few years now, but I quit using the sifter after only a couple of months. It now stays layered on the bottom and I just use the pan as a regular covered box. The reason... using the sifter was so messy! It added extra steps to the cleaning process and never fails, every time I went to dump the mess, only part of it would make it into the bin, the rest would slide around the edges and hit the floor. I found going back to the traditional scooping to be much more effective and less messy.

Perfect!
I love sifting litter boxes as I have a bad back and don’t wanna have to bend over more than I have to this thing is massive like both my large cats could probably fit in it at the same time it was very easy to clean and as I have a cat that pees standing up and would always get it outside the box when I had an uncovered one this is a dream and I haven’t had any issues the pros are that it’s a very pretty color is easy to take apart and put together and the locks work well and hold in place when the cats scratch on the cover or jump out now for the cons they are very minimal and easy to work around cons are it’s a little flimsy so you may wanna be gentle with it so you don’t crack any part of it you have to apply a little downward pressure when locking the lid on to have it snap properly the grate for the sifter is a little larger so if you wanna get all the little pieces you may have to run a scoop through to get it all out the door flap is my biggest pet peeve it had a sticker on it and it didn’t peel off easily and left a bad sticky residue but over all I give this box a very good rating if you need something very large and are on with the possibility of needing to get a new one if you aren’t careful also final note mine came complete zip tied together so no parts were missing.

Great size, cleans well, lid does NOT lock well at all!
My husband wanted new litter boxes for our two adult cats and specifically wanted the extra large for our male, who is 13 lbs. and likes his space. This litter box offers lots of space for the cats, and they are very happy with it. However, the lid does not lock onto it well at all. My previous litter box lid locked on securely enough that I could actually carry the full litter box by the handle. This one won't go more than a few inches and the locks give way. But our other Van Ness litter box without the sifter won't lock at all - only 3 of them even snap onto the box, and they give way with even the slightest pressure. The other issue with a litter box of this size is its sheer weight. When you get enough litter in there to make the cats happy, it is HEAVY! Keep that in mind if every day maneuvering of a heavy and stinky litter box is an issue for you. On the other hand, a bigger box means it doesn't necessarily have to be cleaned every day.As I learned in the past, the way to make these sifting litter boxes work, though, is to store the sifter between the box in use and the spare one. If you keep the sifter in the active box, you will find that things clump and get stuck in the sifter itself, and the cats actually don't like that rough texture at the bottom of the box. My preferred routine is to sprinkle a little Arm & Hammer litter deodorizer on the bottom of the box, then fill with litter. When it's time to clean, I simply pour the whole thing into the other box with the sifter installed, then pull the sifter up to sift the solids from the clean litter. Empty the solids and clumps into the garbage, sprinkle a bit of deodorizer into the empty box, and transfer litter back in. I have done it without the deodorizer, but found that no matter what brand of litter I use, that powder at the bottom makes cleaning a breeze, and without it, there are inevitably bits of litter stuck to the box that require scraping. Transferring the sifted litter back to the original box is therefore necessary, because I need that powder in the bottom, but it also redistributes the "clean" litter better and has the not-so-nice semi-soiled litter at the bottom and the cleaner litter (which the cats much prefer) at the top. With this system, I almost never have litter stuck in the sifter, and if I do, it's only because I reused the litter one too many times or waited one too many days to clean boxes (like when we go away for the weekend).

Excellent !!! Would buy again
Thought we were missing a plastic flap. Turns out it was loose in the box. The box is big and sturdy and no need to scoop litter you can swift it. Plastic flap is a little flimsy but over all good quality. I’d buy again when needed. Definitely worth the $40. Very good value!

Love it!
Dont be a disgusting human being that only cleans his litter box once a week or so! Would you leave your own feces flotting around in your toilet bowl all day and night ? So you dont need the sifting pan if you pick up your cat's feces and pees everyday! The box is awesome, big, sturdy and with a polished slippery plastic that doesnt make everything stick to it!

Flimsy door
This arrived after my many tries to find a sturdy covered litter box for my 2 cats and lighten my load when it comes to poop-patrol. It's solid, strong and holds odour in very well, but...Although the clear visual instruction manual (that was a good feature too: litter- dumping advice for "dummies") illustrates a simple process of lifting the sifter and easily pouring what's left of the clean litter into the second solid pan (another awesome selling-feature of this system), the ball seems to have been dropped--after all of these superstar points-- after yet another flimsy flap door like those on the cat-crap-disposal systems I've purged from the house. Why the tiny "click- into- place" door? If the whole thing is meant to be so sturdy, why not follow through with a door that doesn't have to be re-set over and over and that the cat himself can potentially knock off his bathroom? Finally, it would have been nice to have some visual reminder of which end goes where when putting the kitty- throne back together. End-to-end- like. By the time I'd spent some serious quality time with all that solidified litter and the whole sift-n- pouring process, betrayed by the simplicity of the instructions, I was fresh out of patience for rotating those pans and unclicking and reclicking those latches! Not to mention that if you get it wrong, your precious puss is locked out by the flap door trapped against the wrong side of the internal sifter tray. Kinda like too many bodies standing lined-up at the bathroom door at the nightclub.

The idea is better than the product works
UPDATE AFTER 3 Months USE:WORST PURCHASE EVER!I got rid of the sifting pan and went back to scooping...someone mentioned in previous reviews to use more litter to prevent clogging the sifting pan, so I tried that...my cats dig a hole before they do their business so having more litter did not prevent the clumping litter from clogging up the sifter trays because once they dig their hole the litter is just a thin layer on top of and through the sifter tray and it hardens like cement in the sifter tray holes...adding more litter also made the litter boxes very heavy...this system requires you to lift the sifter pan so the clean litter gets sifted through and the clumps stay in the sifter pan, because the sifter pan is clogged with clumps tapping it just breaks up the clumps and your sifted litter isn't actually sifted as much as it is broken apart into smaller smelly clumps, this defeats the purpose of sifting clumps and getting rid of smells, a scoop does a cleaner and better job...then you have to unclog the sifter pan all the while getting stuck soiled litter all over the floor, then lift the sifted with partially clean litter box up, put it down to the side, replace the clean unclogged sifter tray into the empty bottom litter box and then lift the sifted litter tray and dump it onto the sifter tray, then lift it all again and put it into the empty tray that also has to be cleaned because there is clumped litter stuck to the bottom of it...I have two of these litter boxes so I have to do all this twice! Doing the whole process once is not only time consuming but very hard on the back and having to do it twice is too much......for me it is much quicker to just scoop the boxes every other day than it was to do all this heavy lifting, unclogging sifter trays and cleaning floors...not to mention it saves on not having to use as much litter...NOT for me, complete waste of money and time!...you'll see...Original review: I thought that these litter boxes would make my job easier but that's not the case. I own two Siamese cats. I clean their litter boxes every other day. I use a quality clumping cat litter. I found that the holes in the sifter pan seem to be too big and that clumps of cat waste get stuck in the holes and even clump underneath the sifter pan. When I try to tap the waste out of the holes, dirty litter gets all over the floor and has to be swept up and then the floor needs to be washed with my swiffer wetjet...Still need a litter scoop to scrape out the clumped litter and try to tap out the stuck clumps...when you pour the sifted litter back into the clean pan the dust gets everywhere even though the litter I purchase is 99% dust free...these litter boxes are way overpriced for not doing the job as advertised. The filters on top are useless and so are the swinging doors, I took them out so my cats can have some air circulating while they do their business...if people cleaned their cats litter boxes often and regularly there shouldn't be any odours...but I do know people who would rather just keep the boxes closed and filtered up for their own benefit without thinking about their cats being stuck in an enclosed smelly dirty full of waste litter box...cats are clean animals and want a clean environment...if people would take care of the litter boxes more frequently they wouldn't have their cats using the carpet etc... to do their business...I would not purchase these litter boxes again...
