Exactly What I Needed - Way better than "universal" flappers
Our water bills have been super high lately. The water company informed us that we may have a leak, though we couldn't figure out where. When I heard my basement toilet constantly running, I took a peek and realized that the flapper was basically disintegrating and was letting water flow into the bowl. I got a "universal" flapper from Home Depot, which was supposed to fit my Kohler Santa Rosa, but it sadly did not. This is labeled as a replacement part for the Santa Rosa's flapper and it fits perfectly. Super easy to install and works great. No more running toilet. Also, props to the seller for getting this shipped so quickly.

check the flapper type first
There are millions of different flapper valves. Brick and mortar store had one that looked close, but not quite the correct fit. Used the brand name from the incorrect product packaging to track down the correct model and found it on this site. Delivered promptly, works well and no more running water in the middle of the night !

Perfect as a replacement for specific applications
First of all, if you're going to order this, make absolutely sure that the part to be replaced is a "shark fin flapper". This is slightly oversized (the opening is maybe 2-3/8" wide and not a standard 2") and the Kohler overflow tube (where the flapper mounts on L-shaped pegs) will be rectangular-shaped. If it doesn't fit, don't blame Lavelle or Amazon just because they say it "may fit" certain model names. Kohler is well known for building the same model names/numbers with different internal parts. If you look at the original flapper, it will be pretty obvious is this is the proper replacement. There are no other flappers like it with a triangular fin at the top like this one. Compare the photo to that of the part to be replaced, and you will know.Additionally, this is functionally identical to the one that Kohler sells as their own replacement part - currently model# GP1078440. At least at one time (if not now) Lavelle (Korky) made the ones that Kohler sells, although Fluidmaster could also be producing and/or selling a functionally identical part. Kohler doesn't make most of their the internal parts - they source them from companies like Lavelle and Fluidmaster, although some are designed specifically for Kohler and don't fit any other companies' toilets. I remember a time when Lavelle sold this particular flapper directly as "Kohler Genuine Parts" with the Kohler logo and everything. When I bought this one, I managed to find an old one in the garage (still unused and probably fine but the blister pack looks messed up) and the UPC code is identical even though the current version doesn't carry any official "Kohler Genuine Parts" verbiage.
