Deodorant Stones of America: Thai Crystal Deodorant, 4.25 oz (Pack of 2), Packaging May Vary

Deodorant arrived January 31, 2025.I’m writing review after 2 weeks of use.For decades I used unscented gel stick deodorant and antiperspirant (Dry Idea & Mitchum), and they both worked great.In a strange conversation with a friend the topic of skin irritants came up. And along with it the topic of deodorant. I wasn’t looking to switch brands or type of deodorant, but what my friend was using intrigued me. He had been using this brand (Thai) for over 8 years. The idea of using a salt crystal that feels like a stone, and appears to deposit nothing on your skin sparked my curiosity. So, I bought it just to experiment. I couldn’t tell from the Amazon picture the shape or size of it, so I included it here. According to my friend, the stone lasts for years, we’ll see. I hadn’t read a single review prior to purchase. When I decided to write my own review , I went back and read other reviews to see what issues people had.Here’s my experience with the product.First off, this is only a deodorant and not an antiperspirant. I never really liked the idea of plugging up my pores anyway.The stone is only affective if the stone and / or the skin is wet (very damp) when applying.I found out very quickly that for this stone to work you need to throughly and repeatedly rub the stone over the skin. The stone glides so smoothly over the skin that you don’t feel like you’re doing anything. What takes 3 seconds with stick deodorant to apply per side, will take 20-30 seconds with this stone to be affective. At first I used the stone like a stick, maybe spending 5 seconds per side. It did not do a lasting job until I increased the application time to over 20 seconds per side using a wet stone. It doesn’t seem to be necessary to wet the stone more than once. But it does help if applying after showering.I like the very clean feel of what seems like nothing under my arms. It is winter here in Wisconsin so I’m not perspiring like in the summer. However, I have been exercising shoveling snow, and hiking, etc… The stone has kept me odor free when applying daily. Though I haven’t had to re-apply it, I could imagine it necessary if perspiring for hours at a time, as it doesn’t stick to your skin like gel antiperspirants do.This deodorant stone has no smell at all. Even unscented stick antiperspirants have a little something. I wear mostly cotton shirts, and what I’ve noticed if I sweat, is kind of a very faint cotton linen smell. Kind of refreshing from the usual chemical. I haven’t used it long enough to know if it will yellow cotton shirts under the arm like other deodorants can, but it seems unlikely.Though I haven’t experienced any issues, here’s a few precautions from other reviewers.Don’t drop the stone or it can crack.Don’t store wet stone with cover on. It can mold.Hold stone not the base when applying, or the base might come loose from stone.As long as I throughly rub the stone over every square millimetre of skin and even extend the application slightly beyond the underarm itself, it has been very effective.I am impressed with its effectiveness and pleased to use a product without aluminium and other chemicals. I will continue to use this deodorant stone and see how it goes when summer comes around. I like to say, “I’d buy again” but, with its projected longevity, it might be awhile. 😀

Always been my favorite way to kill bacteria -- I generously wet the crystal, and sort of wash and slosh the salts onto the underarm, and then let it airdry before putting on a shirt. Once the crystal falls out of the handle, I still use the handle as a carrier until I finally use the crystal beyond effectiveness (very small). If you drop one and it cracks, you'll need to wash away and scrub away the sharp edges to protect your skin from scratches.

I bought this because the packaging is designed in such a way that it cannot possibly break down before I'm finished using up the crystal and render it unusable. If you're a fan of crystal deodorant you probably know what I mean about the stupid twisty knob on the bottom breaking a few months in and you're stuck with your deodorant crystal trapped in a stupid plastic tube that you can't easily break open without damaging the crystal. This one has a lid that unscrews at the bottom and exposes the entire deodorant crystal mounted on a plastic base that you grab onto while applying. This is the way salt crystal deodorant SHOULD be packaged imo.The deodorant functions exactly the same as any other salt crystal deodorant - apply to clean, wet skin after taking a shower to get the most out of it. The salt hampers the growth of odor causing bacteria and it seems to last throughout the day because it's rare that I notice my own smell and usually by that point it's time to take a shower and reapply anyway. It is not an antiperspirant so don't expect it to act that way, you'll still sweat using this but you won't stink. I like that there's no fragrance added to it and one stick can last a long time of daily use (like around a year) with no staining to clothes or skin irritation and no residue. If you like other brands of salt crystal deodorants but hate the packaging because it breaks down before you've finished using up your crystal all the way, give this one a try. It's the same exact concept but with better packaging that actually understands the longevity of the product.

I believe the product works. However, after some use, the crystal slips down into the plastic holder. Other than that, great price and product!

The deodorant is really good. I have sensitive armpits and no other deodorant works. At first I was a bit skeptical, it’s really just a salt rock that you wet and rub under your armpits, doesn’t sound like it’ll work but it does! My armpit smell reduced drastically and I actually feel a lot more confident thanks to this product.

After being annoyed that another one of my antiperspirants ran out and I was getting ready to recycle yet another chunk of plastic, I looked for alternatives hoping that there would be some kind of paper-wrapped one.Then I came across this randomly. I’ve tried it for a few days and can confirm that this works. You do have to swirl it around for about 20 seconds but this is golden. I can’t believe that this just isn’t widely known but I guess Big Deodorant. 🤷‍♂️

Over all, this was a good product. However, I live in a very hot summer climate (over 100F daily for 3-4 months), and it just couldn't cut it for that. I had to switch back to my regular deodorant. But will probably come back to this once the weather cools off. It feels like you're not feeling anything, which I love. Not sticky. No stains. It did take about a week for me to feel like it worked well. And I felt like it only worked when I used it after showering. (I am a SAHM, and don't necessarily shower every day... gross I know. But it is what it is). If I hadn't showered that day, it didn't mask anything. I felt like I got a solid 24 hours out of an application, but then after that needed to shower and reapply. Overall good. Love the feel. I will start using it again when it cools off

Love this natural deodorant. Works great for people who have healthy, balanced bodies. The body is meant to perspire. Need to apply properly for it to work effectively.
